    Oh, cruel Sumskillz

You tease us with those screenshots!

Save them for grand preview, merciless one!

The in-game screenshots for the preview look much cooler.

Sean is there a poly count limit on weapons? I have arranged someone to model a mongol bow and was wondering.
There isn't really a limit except for the abilities of each computer's video card. Most of my weapon models are less than 100 polygons (triangles specifically). Anymore than 200 would probably be trouble in large battles.

I made these guys for Castilian and Aragonese units, but considering how long it takes to make good faces and that the Portuguese share some of the same units, you'll likely see them all around Iberia.

Those guys really look like Portuguese people, I do think they will fit perfectly with them, so use those faces for every kingdom.

    I know it
But I don't know how Basques look and how they appear different from Spaniards

Information on th Basques is usually clouded by modern politics but since I'm an anthropologist and I find this stuff interesting, I'll post some hard facts:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

“In a study of European Y-chromosome (paternal) diversity, Basques were found to belong entirely to Paleolithic-European haplogroups 1, 2 and 22. No Neolithic lineages from the Middle East (HG9) or North Africa (HG21) were detected in the sample (though other studies have found them at very low levels), nor were any more recent markers from sub-Saharan Africa (HG8) or Central Asia (HG12/16). [Note that these five haplogroups exist at varying frequencies in other European populations.]”

Rosser et al. (2000) Y-Chromosomal Diversity in Europe Is Clinal and Influenced Primarily by Geography, Rather than by Language. American Journal of Human Genetics; 67:1526-1543

“A study on European founder lineages reveals that Basques also have the highest Paleolithic mtDNA (maternal) component in Europe, with 85.4% of their lineages belonging to old European haplogroups H and V. Their Neolithic input is only 6.7% (Northern Europe has between 12% and 22%); their Bronze Age input, at 5.4%, is lower than Scandinavians' (7.4%); and they have "erratics" at a rate of 2.6%, though these represent rare European haplogroups, not African or Asian admixture.”

Richards et al. (2000) Tracing European Founder Lineages in the Near Eastern mtDNA Pool. American Journal of Human Genetics; 67:1251-1276
My conclusion, based on the evidence, is that the Basques are unique but not distinct. They are unique in that the have considerably more ancient European heritage than other European populations, but since other European populations still have a lot of that same heritage, the Basques don’t look particularly different than any of their neighbors.

That´s the point, my friend. They can not pretend to be a different race, and I don´t supose them to be more different from Castillians than Aragonese, Galicians or Andalusians are (in fact, Andalusians often really look like a different ethnicity, sometimes they are very similar to arab populations in northern Africa). All this stuff about the "races" are usually confused and manipulated by modern politicians, who seek to strengthen their own opinions (even if invented) changing the historiography. That´s the point with Franco´s vision (who almost considered the almughavars and the Cid fascist idols), the Sabino Arana´s (who promoted all this stuff about the Basques in order to justify their independence) and the Catalan nationalism´s (who promoted the idea of a medieval Catalonia dominating the Mediterraneum instead of the Crown of Aragon).
My conclusion, based on the evidence, is that politics mixed with history just suck.

Fabric covered leather helmet from western Persia:

This was fairly easy to create since the Rusichi mod had made some similar helmets for their Alans. I just reshaped their model a bit and retextured it, but I think it turned out pretty well.

I will probably create a few more Daylami units before I do an official preview, but these guys are almost done (shield textures by Pacco):
