    Default It's getting to me...

...what everyone else described, I'm starting to have it as well.

I started a fresh Prussia campaign, medium battle and hard campaign. Well, it didn't take long before Austria and Poland declared war on me so I wasn't too surprised. I managed to do a quick blitzkrieg, take Gdansk, Saxony and Poland itself until this happened

    - Great Britain declared war and invaded my territories
    - Austria sided up with Westphalia, Wurttemberg, Hannover and Bavaria (so I was completely surrounded)
    - Poland sided up with Courland, I lost Gdansk, Poland and Konigsberg in one single turn!!!
    - Sweden was the only one neutral, but I tried working an alliance, they refused everything
    - everyone is hostile to me in Europe

Ok, all in all, I remained only with Berlin so I quit the campaign because it was impossible to do anything more honestly. Austria kept sending huge stacks at me which I couldn't simply respond to, so I shut it down. It's not what bugged me the most however... What it did annoy me was this:

    PRUSSIAN UNITS ARE GENERIC.

What in the world?! Prussia, the nation with a superb military tradition, only gets generic units and maybe Uhlans because of the DLC pack? Come on!!

That was a major dissapointment. After the good campaign with Great Britain, I only experience frustration now.

Two words ; AUM mod. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=250655

It will give you so much variety, you can't put all your favorite units in one stack.

-- its compatible with all the major hosted mods.
-- in just the first two posts of the thread you are given all the information you need to download it, with a link to mod manager.
-- in those first two posts of the thread, likewise, you are given the simplest possible instructions on how to further modify AUM mod yourself, so that, for example, your faction can recruit ANY available unit.
-- Aum mod is regularly updated. good product support

It's true that compared to the other TWs, in ETW the units available per faction don't differ too much.
However, the units you do get are somewhat different between factions; the Prussian line infantry has higher reload and IIRC, morale.

Prussians have one of the larger rosters of units available.

While its true that the units are somwhat generic at first glance, keep in mind that (a) units of the same type from different nations have different stats (e.g. Line Infantry from Prussia and Britain are generally better man for man than those from the rest of Europe, while Austrian Line Infantry are about 25% bigger than normal), and (b) you get more unit variety the farther along in the tech tree you go, as alot of the more specialized and unique infantry and cavalry are not available until most army techs are researched.

Yeah ok I can understand the fact that the units are actually different, but I want different types of units as well, not just changes within the basic lineup.

I started a campaign with Spain since I got my ass kicked and I nearly failed this time as well but I managed to survive and now I'm expanding.

Yeah, the lineups are pretty much the same for at least the western factions.
Most of the differing units are only obtained really late in the game (like riflemen and DLC guards), when they hardly make any difference any more.

Well good luck. Keep your trade going!

Yeah they are different but to similar if they wanted similar line infantry they should have had british linemen with unique uniforms and stats then say prussian linemen with diff stats and uniforms and stuff.

    agree?

Bingo. And some original names as well. It only takes 5 minutes to find out the names of the Prussian Line Infantry.

I'm playing Prussia atm using Darthmod ultimate campaign.h/n. 3 turns per year. I think you'd find that a much better experience than vanilla. There's a lot of different units, new stats and better BAI.I have Saxony,W Prussia and Bohemia and holding out against Austria,Poland and Courland.Basically don't be tempted to expand too quickly.
