    Default Widescreen resolutions

    MTW2 support 1920 x 1080?

After 7 years i finally had to buy a new monitor and discovered that you cannot even find a 4:3 aspect monitor in stores now. That was fine since I wanted a 16:9 widescreen anyway but my choices were limited. First I tried a 20" @ 1600 x 900 and everything looked like absolute junk... could barely read any text on ETW (APE :TI)... there's just not enough DPI across those 20"

So I went in for a hi def 21.5 @ 1920 x 1080. Just an extra 1.5 inches but so many more pixels! And it worked... kind of. I've found that MTW2's interface doesn't even seem to support such a high res.... the text is legible and the map looks good but the UI/windows/unit cards/etc are just swollen and blown up to fit the huge screen... is there a way to fix this?

Or a mod that has addressed it?

When you start the game, in the options, under video, there is a wide screen box you can check.

In medieval2.preferences.cfg, there is a widescreen entry that can be set to 1.

If I remeber right , the last time I installed teh game the was an 16:9 option.

Ah yes i've checked the widescreen box, but the game interface is as i described.... I will look into this preferences file though and see what different values do I guess...

Do you knwo what setting it to "1" means exactly?

Setting widescreen = 1 forces the game into widescreen mode.

Unfortunately, as the game is older than widescreens, how the iu shows up on screen is all this game has to offer.

Hmm, I am having trouble saving the file with notepad after changing the value from 0 to 1.

Perhaps I already have everything the best it can be, but if you have any suggestions on how to force this .cfg fil to save after editing, lemme know! Thanks again.

Have you had problems saving in Notepad before and which Windows version are you using?

Right-click the file and see if it is set read-only.
