Ok , let's get it on (VH/VH , civ , all scripts activated)
I'm currently playing as Flanders , and it's the year 1311. Here's a little mappie of my empire :
1.About my neighbours :
-Scotland took over Ireland and northern England. Once in a few years they come to my territory with a stack , to demand 150 florins for peace. I happily pay them , coz I have trouble with other realms I'd like to attend first. The last couple of years they've been fighting the Holy Roman Empire and conquered Bremen and Frankfurt. I reckon it won't be long before they do invade my realm. A miracle they didn't attack during the plague. Guess my posturing worked.
-The Holy Roman Empire has been fighting since the start of the campaign. They've come under attack of the Danes , the Scots , the French , the Lombard League , the Polish and the Hungarians. They are weak , ready to be conquered. But I keep the peace with them. I'd rather share a border with a weak empire than with those agressive Danes/Poles.
-Al Khalifa in Magribi : The number one faction currently. Took over Portugal and Spain. Kept the peace during the plague years (posturing!), but just started with hostilities. Couple of stacks heading my way , along with the usual imams. Reckon I got a few tough fights ahead of me , and , I know I MUST conquer some of their regions soon , or they will drown me in enemy armies. But I know that from Cordoba onwards my generals will get less loyal because of the great distance from my capital. Sigh...
-France/Lombard League : Got obliterated by ... me! Was engaged in a death struggle with them (on seperate occasions) , when I suddenly got the message after the last battle that their killed kings had no more heirs , so they ceased to exist. Their remaining cities turned rebel and got consequently added to my empire. Talk about a lucky break!
-Venice : I crusade-took Venice , and am fighting them every few years at the bridge leading to the Venice lagoon.
-England : My ally for nearly 150 years. Decided to wage war on me when I was at peace with everyone. Sheer folly. Reduced to one castle , they live by my grace. I parked a nice stack near them.
2.About me
-Put a lot of effort in diplomacy. Did all I could to raise my international reputation , mainly by releasing prisoners , 'coz it seems to work the best. Hardly have any alliances or trade rights with anyone by choice.I don't want to get involved in other peoples' conflict , I want them to get involved in mine. Seems to work.
-Long periods of calm between conflicts.Hardly anyone declares me (because of my immaculate reputation + posturing).Nations don't gang up on me,it's always a one-on-one. When fighting conflicts I prefer short , sharp shocks , like taking two regions in one turn , while decimating their armies. They usually end up begging for peace within a few turns.
-Posturing. I mentioned it already a few times. Works great. Wanna impress me? Wanna put a stack on my soil? Wanna make your move? No problem , I'll park my superbly led veteran stack right next to yours. Come get some. What ? Where are you going? Very often their troops just bugger off , looking for easier prey. Even during the Dark Ages!
-My family : I groomed it in the best bonzai tradition , cutting off dying twigs , removing the useless. Up until now (1310) I had kings with the purest blood. Each and everyone of them a 'van Vlaanderen'. Up until now. My king had four daughters , and his heir has no children and is almost retired. This failure duo are my last two pure 'van Vlaanderen'.
-The pope : 'As of 1300 , I am the pope'(La Muerte) . Got a majority vote of 9 cardinals. Not intending to let it go. I also got two veteran assassins and a spy advising the pope on how to run a church.
-Tag team spying : 2 spies open any gate and disable any tower once they are inside. Works great. Saves tons of lives.
-Army : Got tons of level 9 experience troops. I learned the art of retraining. Am I getting good at this game or do troops in DLV get more experience? My Flemish spearmen are great as well , though they're getting it harder and harder as my opponents put more heavily armoured infantry in the field.

What do you use to upload images? I'm just going with Image Shack right?
lol thanks pics on the way!
Update: Just struck an alliance with Georgia and Egypt relations still aren't looking good. Bolstering defenses in Jerusalem hopefully the hammer doesn't fall there.
Here's my Hungarian kingdom:
As you can see, year 1268, all of the Balkans belong to me. This is after a 20-30 years long war against the hated Byzantines which I won after taking Konstantinople. Also the Dark Ages have come and gone, leaving me bloodied fighting Venice, HRE and Poland, but still in control of what I had before.
I am well consolidated, allied with Venice, HRE and Poland - And Byzantine (!) - after I bribed them 15k florins each to ally with me
Flanders is gone, crushed by France... Sicily was a joint effort by Venice and myself, but they totally deserved it, the aggressive bastards. Denmark got excommunicated and suffered a crusade that England won. As seen from the minimap, theres still a lot of factions left, no clear dominating force, except me
Economy is good, earning 20-30k per turn so having problems getting rid of it all, trying to gift some to my allies and turning down taxes. Also turned off "royal tax" so hopefully the deceitful nobles will like me more.
So the question is "What now?". Attack poland and expand north or attack Venice and take all the nice gold of northern Italy? My guess is the turks will roll over Byzantine sooner or later and when that time comes I will have to face the infidel horde myself
GO!

The Danes, I swear, with their half arsed attempts at a 'war'. You gotta give it to 'em, they just dont stop trying. Listen, I've fought the Timurids, ever heard of them? Elephants with cannons on their backs. Yea, Timurids. You guys are like kids on tricycles compared to them. -REZ
First off, can you tell us about the enabled/disabled scripts?
"What now?" It depends on your relations with the other factions as well as their relations between each others. You're becoming a big empire with huge borders now so it's better to have some calm borders so that you can focus on a move without worrying about your back.
The HRE (I prefer HRR: Das Heiliges Römisches Reich, I love the pronounciation) seems to be losing everything, I'd go and get a part of the cake if I were you.
I'll be following your campaign, Shadrach.
I play VH/VH with every script enabled except "Total War" at the start.
Thats coolI agree on the HRE, in fact I just noticed that one of their cities has rebelled and is under siege by Venice so I have sent an army there to "help out" - which usually means attack before they do so I get the settlement instead
After that I will probably just declare war on them (neutral at the moment) and take Prague as well which would round out my borders just nicely to the north.
Oh yes but we don't share a border with the turk you see, or we DIDN'T but now their capital just got taken in a crusade so I am free to take it back and keep itOriginally Posted by hhawks12

That should teach them for messing with us! Byzantines probably don't have much longer to live anyway beseiged on all sides by enemies.

I'm got a regular CTD on my Jerusalem campaign but can't sustain a valid economy. Thank god I'm only 7 turns in I'll probably read the manual cover to cover to try an figure out what I'm doing wrong lol.
I'll post soon my new empire, the romans are here to claim their empire back!![]()
Finally got the Scots Pike Militia for my Scottish campaign (obviously haha) England is engulfed in full stack war against France and Ireland an I hope to slip in and take Nottingham while hopefully Ireland Pillages and burns the rest. I'm allied with both right now and I feel that going to war would definately make a strong triple threat aliiance. Will post updates! PS: Love that I'm actually starting to get the feel for this mod haha.
back from empire tw.i litterally autoresolved 3/4 of my battles coz the batle map game suxs so hard until today i decided thats it. i m about to launch another dlv game today and i think i ll play hre again which i did way to often. however i dont feel ready for the teutonic order yet. will have to go to a business trip to ireland from sunday to sunday but soon after that i will post my empire - HRE - The Awakening
