    Default Invis Units

Yeah so I'm kind of new to this game and I was wondering what the tricks were to detecting enemy invis units. My friend in MP has been tearing me up with the elite invis infantry units ending up right behind my lines when I advance.
What is the trick to knowing where they are at/scouting them out?
How do I best counter them?
Using them- How long do they stay invis away from my base?

    Thansk for any help

I assume you are talking about MP battles, not invisible units on the MP campaign map.

Light infantry and rifles have a higher detection radius, so use them to scout.
Non-Light infantry units like line inf and cavalry can only hide in woods, so always suspect someone hiding in there.
I don't understand the "stay invisible away from my base" part; units can hide in certain terrains (right-click the unit card to see which) so it doesn't matter how far they are from other units.

Well I noticed that in a MP battle, my friend who was playing the defender had accidentally clicked them to move and they appeared. The thing is, is that they were far away from any trees before I was even able to see them. So I guess my question is when along their movement do they appear to me?

You were probably facing light infantry. Those can hide in "light scrub" which is almost everywhere.
Units don't stay hidden when they move; very few can "hide while moving" like the US' Long Riflemen and Austria's Windbüchse Jägers.

    Hi there.
Try use your artillery to root them out. Fire some shots at places where you might suspect them to hide. If hit, they either move, and then you know where they are, or some times they just becomes visible (I do not know weither this is a game mechanism or a bug).

i have had this happen to me before. my enemy used kentucky long rifleman on caucasus. i wasnt moving my lines at all either. I couldnt see the enemy advancing but i could hear them advancing. All of a sudden a huge line of rifleman appeared out of thin air surrounding my lines and i was cut to pieces. maybe its a glitch.

Once the invis units, per se an American Ranger, move out of their original hiding spot, can they go back if its in the wide open, like not the forest? If not, would it be worth it to invest in 2 scout cavalry units to sweep each flank right before I begin my advance? They would probably take heavy losses but it would expose the enemy's hidden units.
