    Default "First Age: Total War" (Gondolin preview)


    There are essences and the concept of works on this mode:

    And when they have proved in the void, Ilyuvatar said to them: “You look, that created your music!” And He gave to them possibility to see, where earlier they may only heard, and they saw a new peace, which arose before them. And it had a form of the sphere, which hangs in the void. And thus far Ainur looked and was surprised, this peace began to reveal its history, and by it seemed, that it lives and improves.     It is truly surprising and splendid peace created with imagination by John Ronald Tolkien. Its literary and linguistic saturation of them, make it possible to so deeply feel, that there is sometimes written, that the sweet illusion of the realism of that occurred appears in our mind. Why not? Why not to be Aynur and Valar, valiant and hot as fire Feonar, or to immeasurably dark in his essence - Morgoth? Let this is another reality, another time, but as, nevertheless, sweet to leave from the ordinariness of our everyday problems and will dip into this world by the head!
    The command of this mode, in many years assembled from the loyal to general idea enthusiasts, decided to recreate the peace of Arda in the dawn of its youth, beauty and sublimity, using all possibilities, which presented to us Medieval-TW-2.
    By primary task, before ourselves, we see the recreation of the peace Middle-Earth in that form, in which it to himself presented J.R.R.Tolkien. Specifically, for this reason, all literary and graphic components of mode are based on the quotations from the works of professor. For his life, Tolkien wrote so much about Middle-Earth and its inhabitants, but one life it is not sufficient for the recreation of all special features of entire peace. Therefore we recognize to use works of other authors, whose text does not disperse from the main concept, placed by professor. In some situations for us, it is necessary to begin to operate our fantasy, but this always is founded upon soil and passed prolonged consideration.
    I think, each expert of the first age of Arda will agree with the assertion, that his realization on 3-D platform MTW-2 inconceivable complex problem. And the special features of game themselves dictate some limitations and role innovations.
    We planned to the realization global strategic regime with role elements. The beginning of this campaign will become the time, when Adains arrived into the peace of Beleriand and they settled - second children of Iluvatar. But to the end of the work on this regime must pass still much time. The first, what we plan to let out - provincial company, based on subject of one of the legends of Silmarilion.     Gondolin
    The secret kingdom of noldor-elves, what on will of Valar Ulmo - Sovereign of Waters, was concealed in unapproachable mountain valley, after being covered there up to a certain time, from the evil look of Morgoth’s spies. The capital of wise kings - great Gondolin, this is the most beautiful and powerful noldor-city, that is such by beauty and by power similar to great Tirion in Valinor. But force champions and brave army of Gondolin, which is considered strongest of all noldors armies, rarely leaves they excellent valley in order to be slain with hordes of the ruler of evil, entering into battle with end-need, only by the call of the sovereign of Hitlum, which Head of Gondolin recognizes by her supreme king, then they are brave fighting under his banners in one order with warriors of Nargotrond and guards of Adains. However, that day, when herald of Valars brings terrible warning to perfectly city, is not distant, but Master of Lie will find the place, where secret valley is sheltered - hour of great battles and tests will come, will keep balance the walls of excellent Gondolin and his army before the innumerable hordes of Tangorodrim, knowingly only to some Valars…

    Gondolin (Secret Cliff)
    Turgon from Nevrast, Fingolfin’s son, found secret value of Tumladen. It was located in the ring of the mountains, such high, that not one living being suspected about its existence. That valley (as it became known later), was stale to the east from upper reaches of Sirion-river, in ring of mountains, high both steep and not one living creature can’t pass there - only eagles of Torondor are flew there. But there was deep way, pierced through the rocks and stones under the mountains in dark by waters of Ulmo, that they approached the jets of Sirion; and Turgon found that way and was going out on green plain between mountains, and saw island-hill of solid stone - valley during the ancient days was lake. Turgon selected the most skillful masters of its people and secretly took away into the concealed valley. 52 years of persistent and secret labor are past, until the city has built. Somebody says, that Turgon wanted to name the city in the language of the elves of Valinor - Ondolinde - Rock of the Singing Water, therefore as with marvellous music sounded from fountains, which beat from the stone, but the language of Sindar distorted name and city began to be called Gondolin - Secret Cliff. Turgon assembled people and by small groups, secretly, they began to send them into the city. In the ring of mountains the people of Turgon grew and flourished, and is tall in the untiring works their craftsmanship, so that Gondolin on Amon-Gvaref was began truly excellent and worthy to be equal even Tirion Overseas. There are high and white were city-walls, were smooth stairs, was majestic, ordered and powerful the Tower of Ruler. There been fountains shone, which was playing with sun light, and in the courts of Turgon stood the sculptures of Valinor Trees of the antiquities, completed with the elf-craftsmanship by Turgon; the tree, that was made from gold, called Glingal, another, with the colors from silver - Belfil. Ekkoriat, is mountain ring , that admitted no one from outside world into the valley; only five - elves Aeol and his son Maeglin (nephew of Turgon on the maternal line), and also adains Huor, Hurin and Tuor - they was permissible enter within limits of principality. Two of them, Maeglin and Hurin, became the reason for fall of Gondolin. Hurin was captivated by Morgoth, and then he set free, involuntarily gave out for Morgot exemplary location of Gondolin. But Maeglin, overwhelmed by hatred for Tuor, son of Huor, indicated to orcs only passage through the mountain ridge Ekkoriat. In 511 year of First Age, the hordes of orcs, volkolaks and trolls, which order balrogs and dragons trespass into possessions of Turgon, and Gondolin, latter of all principalities of Noldors in Middle-Earth did not keep balance before their strong pressure. Turgon perished, and city was destroyed. In some of degree Turgon was guilty, that this happening, because in his pride did not wish to heed to adopt the warning of Ulmo, brought by Tuor still in 496 year FA.
    Gondolin, which was most excellent and beautiful of the all elves principalities of Beleriand, was destroyed and already never built anew.

    Tuor Eladar
    “The father of star” (Ulmondil - “friend of Ulmo”) – Adain-men, (Kin of Hador), the son of Huor and Rian (his father perished during Nirnaet Arnoediad), was brought up by the elves of Mithrim, the messenger of Valar Ulmo. Actually foster-son of King Turgon and was married on his daughter Idril, the father of Earendil, Prince of Gondolin. He was Leader of the “House of Wing”. Tuor was “added” by Valars to Noldor-elves (which has been loved by him). His fate “is isolated” from the fates of other Men. He manages poleaxe “Dramborleg”..

    Earendil
    “That loving is sea”, “navigator”, (Ardamire - “the treasure of Arda”) – Half-elf, half-men, the son of Adain Tuor and Elf-woman Idril, the grandson of King Turgon. (In the future, he will become husband of Elvig from Doriath). Earendil, similar to his both parents, he has bright golden hair and blue eyes, Prince of Gondolin. (In the future, - ruler of elves and men of the harbors in mouth of Sirion-river).

    Galdor
    Elf-sindar, the Leader of the “House of Tree”, the feature: brave man (+ morals to the troops in the battlefield), powerful soldier - bonus in combat with orcs.

For the young elves of Gondolin to become the guard of valley, means - to become soldier! As soldiers these guards are very experienced, since youth of elf - very philosophical concept. They have the worthy armament: the armors, which consist of the woven hauberks, the sloping helmets, the round light shields, the long spears and the one-armed swords. They skillfully battle and are ready to meet any enemy with breast. They have good discipline, predetermines their skill – they are rapidly built. In the cases of endlessness of position - guards organize all around defense. When they stand on protection of valley, their battle spirit is strong as never. Long spear makes with their irreplaceable against the enemy cavalry. And the presence of sword does not give to them to lose in combat with infantry in the weak-points of gorges. Since for the guard of valley important to see enemy with first and to destroy before it will notice guard - they magnificently know how to harbor both in the field and in the forest! But because of the specific character of its service, their armor does not make it possible to resist heavily armored enemy, therefore it does not be worth suppose, that these steadfast soldiers are omnipotent.

    The Horse Guards
    (Rocco tirme) (middle cavalry) The not numerous forces of these soldiers are part the Guards of Valley. These are well armed riders-spearmen, robed in the hauberks and helmets, protected by round shields. When elves of the house of Turgon, dwelled on the spaces of Nevrast, they acquired the outstanding habits of horse battle. But, migration in the secret valley did not make it possible to take with themselves many horses, therefore horse forces in Gondolin - large rarity. Their basic task consists conducting of patrols, connection between the gates and delivery information into the city. But into the cases of major engagement they sufficiently skillful, which to cover flanks, to visit into rear of enemy, will line up by wedge, that to cut the order of archers or light infantry. And with the retreat of enemy, horse guards are not replaced for the pursuit! Indeed not one enemy, who learned about by secret valley, must leave. They brave warriors, but to use them stand carefully and deliberately, since even entire skill of immortal not capably of resisting armor of the heavy infantry and cavalry of enemy!

    The soldiers of the House of the Golden Flower
    (Ohtar Noss malta lote) (middle swordsmen) The powerful swordsmen-warriors, master of close battle with blade. They are supplied with helmets, strong hauberks, steel vambraces and greaves, in the raincoats, protected by strong middle shields. Armed by long, sharp as razor, one-arm-sword, capable of cut off any armor. Although, in the essence, each of them studied the wisdom of single battle, they become present force, when are united shield to shield, since to the system of their order, they will be enraptured even Valar. War is their life and profession, from the migration themselves into the valley, they are prepared for the last battle, when from their bravery, skill and sharpness of swords will depend the fate of entire people of Noldor.

    The soldiers of the House of the Swallow
    (Ohtar Noss tuilindo) (light archers) They are good soldier-archers, armed by middle bow, small shield and short sword- blades, in the variegatedly decorated with feathers helmets and strong hauberks, above which they bear variegatedly embroidered covers. This uncommon form of archers of this house is capable of frightening by their forms any horse, what is the not bad help, when it is necessary to protect from cavalry of enemy! These soldiers are extraordinarily rapid, in combat, also, with many thrusts. Although a radius of the firing of their short bows is not so great, but speed, with which they let out arrows - it impresses!

    The soldiers of the House of the Heavenly Arch
    (Ohtar Noss fanyare helyanwe) (heavy archers) These soldiers are outstanding fighters - universal warriors, which wonderfully manage both by the heavy long-range bow and by the short double-edged blade! They are dressed in the helmets and strong hauberks above which it is dressed breastplate and raincoat, on the wrists steel vambraces, and greaves on the feet. Durable wrist shield reliably covers their body during the battle and shootings. And long bow makes it possible to send arrows up to inconceivable distances. The warriors of this house bear bright iridescent raincoats, and shields decorated with gems in order to draw to themselves attention of greedy enemy cavalry, but they are not suicides! Before battle, soldiers of Rainbow prepare area of defense, driving into it wooden stakes. The cavalries, that attacking order of these brave archers, it is judged to die to the point of these stakes, so without having realized, however, what occurred.

    The soldiers of the House of the Harp
    (Ohtar Noss tanta) (middle - archers) This special soldier-archers, robed in the light hauberks and steel helmets, in spacious covers, they are armed short, but by extraordinarily tight and long-range bows. Before battle, or even during most terrible skirmish, they play beautiful music, inspiring to the exploits of them brothers and causing confusion in the camp of the forces of darkness. Enemy infantry fear approach to these soldier, since music cause in them terrible pain. Furthermore, minstrels are capable of conducting fire with most unusual speed, “pouring” enemy “with rain of arrows” as if playing on the bowstrings of their bows, as if they continued their peaceful game on the beloved harp. For protection in the close battle they have available light small shield and long wide dagger. Thus far into army of Gondolin remained although one minstrel, her spirit cannot be broken!

    The soldiers of the House of the Tree
    (Ohtar Noss alda) (middle infantry with iron studded clubs) – They are powerful warriors in the strong hauberks, the helmets, greaves and vambraces, in green covers, armed by powerful two-handed iron studded clubs-cudgel with shafts, strap with iron. They terrible opponent for any enemy, since these soldiers do not know fear as their sovereign - Galdor. And they are never step back, even if they will be one against entire armada of Morgoth! But hatred which they feed to the creation of gloom, it allots their impacts by terrible force of that breaking through any armor and removing enemy into air.

    The soldiers of the House of the Fountain
    (Ohtar Noss ehtele) (heavy infantry swordsmen) They are magnificently protected by strong hauberks, breastplates, helmets, greaves and vambraces. But their armors are intended not only for the protection, intensified by skillful Noldor-blacksmiths by special external blades on vambraces, greaves, shoulder straps, they are by themselves weapon! In the upper part of the helmet is located the long steel shaft, capable of opening armor of most terrible monsters of Morgoth. Their two-handed swords are so enormous, that they are capable of cutting Balrogs in two parts, or to open of by one impact the bodies of several enemies simultaneously. These warriors are the present machines of murder, for creatures of the Dark. Anger and swords of these soldiers install the fear to anyone, and even to dragons!

    The soldiers of the House of the Hammer of Wrath
    (Ohtar Noss orme namba) (heavy infantrymen with combat maces-hammers) About extraordinary force and courage of these warriors compose the legends, which are transferred from mouths to mouths. The earth is shaken from their step on the battlefield, and enemy is turned to run from one their appearance. These are not numerous, but exceptionally strong soldiers, and not ingeniously, since each of them, in peacetime does not let out sledge-hammer from the hands. Robed in complete bright black armor and blued deaf helmets with black-red sultans. Their growth shields are so enormous, what to bear them under the force only to their masters. The weapon of these soldiers enormous maces-hammers is capable of demolishing in combat almost any enemy, with exception of the possibly only strongest dragons! A blow of these hammers breaks any armor and it will baste any quantity of enemies of those fallen in field of its action! - These soldiers present horror for entire unclean kin of the “Flame of Udun” - Balrogs!
    “The latter of detachments consisted of Soldiers of the House of the Hammer of Wrath - among them there were many skillful blacksmiths and masters, and this entire kin honored Aule-Blacksmith more all other Aynur. They fought by enormous maces, similar to hammers, and their shields were heavy, because they have very strong hands. In olden days into that kin they assumed in essence those of noldors, who slipped off from the mines of Morgoth, and people of this house especially hotly hated the acts of villain and his demons - Balrogs. Leader of them was Rog, most powerful of Noldors, by courage he has been little inferior, than Galdor, from the Kin of Tree. Hammer and anvil has been the sign of that people, and hammer, which carves sparks, was depicted on their shields, and they loved red gold and black iron. Their force was not completely numerous, but there was not among them somebody weak by spirit! - And in that battle with fate, they obtained to themselves the highest glory among all those excellent peoples; but evil was judged for them, and nobody returned from that field, all fell near Rog, and they disappeared from face of Earth; and many skills and arts forever perished together with them.     (Ohtar Noss ninque mindon) (guard spearmen) These soldiers are the elite of army of Gondolin, they belong to not numerous, but extremely skillful families, that they built for King Turgon Great White Tower of Gondolin. They protect their creation and theirs king there are many centuries and they shone entire their life to this matter. These master-warriors to the perfection manage skill of war. Pitiless to enemies, courageous and merciless soldiers those knowing how to kill and how to die, are garrison of the Citadel of The City of Gondolin, and if to White Tower once is judged to fall, then for enemies it is necessary dearly to pay for this sacrilege!     (Ohtar Noss aranion ) (guard halberdmen) They are best of the good, strongest of the strong, bravest of the brave, this are all about them, about House of the King. These soldiers occur from relatives of royal family and they are considered as the royal kin, although the door of royal guards is opened for best warriors from other houses. Exceptional combat capabilities in combination with highest devotion to them kingly suzerain, makes these soldiers with truly some of strong in entire Beleriand! Complete mirror armor, quite best of all, which can be made in Gondolin, decorated with silver patterns, with thrown on above raincoat of royal colors create impression, that these soldiers are shine!     The soldiers of the House of the Wing
    (Ohtar Noss rama Tuore) (guard of Tuor) (guard infantrymen with the poleaxes) These soldiers are strong and powerful, the most glorious elf daredevils from different houses of Gondolin hurry to enter the service into the guard of royal son’s-in-law, Adain Tuor! Not without reason they are also considered as the royal guard, but with their own coats of arms, and by no means, because they serve the mortal husband of the royal blood (true, later than selected destiny of First-borns) most beautiful of Noldor woman, and because in nothing they be inferior to royal guards! These are courageous and brave soldiers, and in the skill to battle with the enemy by them there are no equal. These warriors are powerful support of Gondolin! The armor of these soldiers in fortress and beauty is almost analogous to armor of royal guards, but they bear not heavy armors, but the highest durable sparkling by silver hauberks and plates. White wings are placed on sparkling helmets, while the coat of arms in form of swan wing is depicted on the strong steel shields.     The soldiers of the House of the Mole
    (Ohtar Noss morna) (heavy infantrymen with poleaxes-hammers) These are strong soldiers in complete blued armor, in helmet, stretched over by fur of mole. Their tower shields excellently protect them from impacts, and double-edged poleaxe, in the form pickaxe, it is strong weapon. Imperceptible black armor make possible for these warriors to hide in any place, there would be only shadow. These soldiers are devoted to their sovereign - Maeglin, but love power and money so strong, as he. Therefore they serve for Gondolin not so much from the love and honor, as - because of its innumerable riches, luxury and power. For this very reason does not be worthwhile to lay high hopes during the battle on them. But they are good for creating of ambushes and traps to enemy!

    I have rarely seen better units, if at all.
    ANd I also like the somewhat shiny style of the units, or is this just because of the bright sun?

    nice, but you know, the first age plays in Beleriand, which was destroyed at the end of morgoth and the end of the first age:

    at the east of the mountains Ered Luin in Southeast of the map is Eriador, the ruins of the great dwarfen cities Belegost and Nogrod in the luins are the home of dwarfen in the second an third age, the so called blue Mountains, the ered lindon in sindar.

    yes now i know that the picture of the map is a .gif so i saw the changing map to beleriand.
    but at first i only see middleearth map of third age and thought: "omg, first age mod in third age map? i must show a beleriand map."

    Our mod currently has strong and solid team. Our forces is enough large to end this mod. But any new member will gives us closer date of final release.
    And help will be welcomed on any position, especially with:

    Great work guys!!! I've already seen some screenshots of your work at an earlier date, but just seeing this very detailed faction preview with those beautiful units is amazing! I really like the way that they are so bright, it really gives the feeling of the Elves before they got into decline: strong, shiny, proud and heavily armoured units. It's also amazing that a faction with a relatively small population already got that many units! Keep up the great work and I hope you guys will get a subforum in here someday!

    At us balanced enough command. But the life sometimes throws up difficulties. For example now we sharply do not have one more 2-d the master. For from three our artists this month one is active only, and 3-d masters have left far in before.Though we need any expert! The it is more than us, the we are stronger!
