Hey,
So I had this idea and I'm not sure how difficult it would be to make as I'm completely clueless when it comes to modding but thought I'd throw it out here and see what you guys think.
I often find really great units in all the different mods and unit packs available, however, I'm completely clueless when it comes to changing files, adding stats, etc and don't feel comfortable playing about with the game files too much. Therefore, I don't add more units to my mods as I'm worried about breaking something, plus it could take quite a bit of time if adding a lot of units to a mod. For example, if I wanted to add the spartans from "Warlords Of Sparta" into my XGM mod, I wouldn't be able to do it.
So, my idea is to gather up all the available units (or the most popular ones) from the various mods (that allow for sharing) and unit packs and add them to a database and then make an installer for them that would let players simply select the units they want to add to their mod, select the faction to add them to and the installer would do the rest.
Obviously, this would mean that the stats and details for the unit would need to already be made, so perhaps only add units that have everything ready to be added to a game?
I have no idea if this would even be possible, I'm sure it would cause problems as all mods are different and therefore a global installer may not be possible, perhaps just for the most played mods then?
Let me know what you think
P.S. If anyone does do this, please make it compatible with XGM![]()
