Biggest battle you've had in etw so far?

So just now i fought the biggest battle I've had in etw. Its 1789 there's just me, Russia and marahas ( and a few others since marahas had Mughals rebel and they took over half of India back!) they are allied and Russia has loads of troops i don't want to declare was as Marathas is my main trader but finally i dow when i build up a huge army, as much as i can without going bankrupt and attack Russian stack on my border. a massive kill fest ensures....

The setup: Both their generals end up dying and my general dies right at the end, tho im not sure how. It will be the last day for many.

Now i just have to kill the nine million other Russian troops while trying to keep my empire from collapsing since i have no money because of Marathas, my only trade partner allying Russia.

Alas, my only option was to take as many of them with me as I could. My infantry battalion (1st Division, 2nd Brigade, 5th battalion) consisted of 1600 line infantry with 1 artillery battery and 1 cavalry troop -- we were outnumbered 3 to 1.

You can see I've killed two of their generals and even that morale penalty didn't stop them from marching on us;

Christian Kant ? That's a catchy name for a general.

"1st division, 2nd Brigade , 5th battalion " ? I rename my units " 1st regiment of Foot " etc. If I'm feeling really ambitious I might name a stack ( on a piece of paper . There is apparently no slot where you can name a stack ) " 1st Amerikan Expeditionary Army " or "1st Army korps " or " Army of Lombardy "
But it sounds like you have things organized over there !

Regiments are organizational units; a regiment consists of 4800 line infantry and is split into 3 battalions of 1600 soldiers.


Brigades are combat units; they consist of the infantry battalions plus their support troops.
A full brigade’s support units will consist of;

3 artillery batteries made up of 5 artillery companies containing 6 guns a piece. These 3 batteries will be assigned to a company and will add 30 guns and 96 soldiers to each battalion.

There will also be 3 cavalry troops in support, each consisting of 4 platoons of 60 horse adding 240 cavalry units to each battalion.

There will also be a Lieutenant Colonel in charge of each battalion providing 40 more horsemen.

Depending on actual makeup; a battalion contains about 2000 soliders.

A battalion is 1 FULL stack.

OT: You can name your General's Bodyguard unit which works pretty well as stack-naming.

Well I just had my largest battle ever and funnest too. Here's what I was faced with... my 2000 brave soldiers against just shy of 9000 men.

I wasn't about to do the charging so I fortified my position alongside of a hill and hoped for the best as the enemy reinforcements began pouring in.



After facing wave after wave of attacks only letting my men fire under the closest ranges to save ammo the bodies began piling up.



After defending several waves of assaults and half my men out of ammo the enemy stopped its charges and held up in the fort which I then had the task of taking. It was purely a melee battle from then on but my men pulled it off for the victory.

How in the world is there so many veterans???? Ive never seen so many with full numbers!

Yep, I'm hoping to see lots of screenshots in this thread of stacks and stacks of bodies. There's a curious perverse pleasure in it.
In studieing war, I usually ask , " which battle had the highest casualties? " And I'm sure to read up on that battle.

Same here its nice looking over the battlefield as the blanket of corpses.

I don't have any screens, but it was my stack of American line infantry/artillery, against three stacks of Spanish Line infantry/cavalry/artillery. Luckily, they all came from the same direction. I set my force up in 2 lines, set on a slight hill, with redoubts for defense. I set up in a hook, so that my line could not be maneuvered around. They came straight at me, and got massacred. As my front ranks ran out of ammo, I moved in the reserve of the second line. I eventually ran out of ammo, but had the force to end the battle with a bayonet charge. If you haven't seen what 6000 yellow uniformed bodies looks like, it was a sight to behold.

well, it's obvious that most of my enemy's regiments were entering the battle for two hours as continious flow of reinforcements. besides, i play on normal settings, as i adore seeing this regiments with up to 600 men in each :3
I won thanks to good usage of area and positioning of my army. 8 howitzer regiments with explosive ammo... well, they don't call arty "God of War" for nothing

Okay my biggest battle so far was last night got Darthmod all set-up and I got a 5,000 vs 13,000 siege battle. Good lord have I never wanted a time limit more because it went on for ever I did eventually lose but I killed 10,000.
