    Default HELP! Problem w/ steam!

I've installed the newest release FTW: The New Shadow in my rome total war gold directory since I bought the complete Rome Total War pack on steam. I also copied and pasted -show_err -nm -mod:bi/ci to the launch options and started up the game as RTW: BI. It took longer to load than expected but when I got in the game it was still Barbarian Invasion! I tried creating a shortcut through steam and aimed it toward the RTW:BI exe. I changed it to include -nm -show_err -mod:bi\ci to the end of this on the target line "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold\RomeTW-BI.exe"

It still didn't work, only saying that it couldn't find steam still. Please help!

    Tried this?

Rightclick on the RTW:Gold Edition game tab and right click on it to select properties. In the general tab, click "Set launch options..." and add the following line: "-show_err -nm -mod:bi/ci", once then launch the game as "Rome Total War: Barbarian Invasion."

also even though I put the installer in the RTW gold directory the ci folder comes up in the Barbarian Invasion folder after installing. Is the ci folder suppose to end up in the BI folder after installation?

Yes, 'ci' should be inside 'bi'.

Has the mod been installed properly? Going into bi/ci/data/export_descr_unit, for example, do you see original BI units or FATW units? Also, can you check if you have a bi/bi or ci/ci folder structure (ie an extra folder somewhere along the installation path)?

The problem is either a wrong installation (so the shortcut goes to the right place, but the right files aren't there) or a wrong shortcut (so the shortcut looks in the wrong place for files and ends up loading vanilla).

well i do have a ci folder in the RTW gold folder. Is there only suppose to be one ci or two? I currently have one in bi with all the data and stuff and this ci in the RTW gold folder has ui, world folders, and update_bi.bat . If this just the vanilla or the mod?

I also checked the export_descr_unit txt. and all the units were from the mod.

There is supposed to be just one ci folder (inside bi), so I guess you did something wrong during the installation. I would suggest you uninstall and reinstall, following the instructions closely. If it still doesn't work, let us know.

All right now I see the problem! The extra ci folder was messing up the target path. I put bak in the "-show_err -nm -mod:bi/ci'' thing again and it worked once I deleted the extra ci. But now a new problem... once I start up the game it crashes to windows. Here's what it says:

Script Error in bi/ci/data/descr_event_images.txt, at line 2905, column 1.
    Unknown event string settlement_razed

So should I uninstall and reinstall the mod to fix this b/c I didn't mess with that txt.
