I am running it in Windows 7 64-bit and battles works fine, and campaigns work, but crash a lot.

If you run into any compatibility problems, search for the campaign button fix. This will clear up most frequent crashes.
Heir to Noble Savage in the Imperial House of Wilpuri
I have no problems at all running it under Win7 64, and have yet to experience a crash.
One issue, though, can be the screen resolution with win 7, preventing you from selecting a higher one. This however, can be solved by the following method:
Unfortunately, I canßt remember who mentioned this solution, which works great for me.Got to All Programs open the Accessories folder click on Run type MSCONFIG in the pop up window and click OK. If Windows asks for permission click Continue. In the new pop up window select the Boot tab and click on the Advanced options... button and in the new little pop up window click the tiny box by Maximum memory: Whatever the number in the box here change it to 2560 then click OK. Click Apply on the remaining window then a small pop up asking you to restart PC should remain, click Yes. You should now be able to play both Shogun Total War and Medieval Total War with all resolutions available.
To revert your system to normal you have to uncheck the box in the Advanced options... , Maximum Memory: click OK then select the General tab and click the little round button beside Normal startup Load all device drivers and services then click Apply and then click Yes when asked to restart the system.
What you are doing here is only allowing the system to let the games software see an amount of RAM it is programmed to understand, or so I believe, thus preventing it from defaulting to minimum specs. If the number 2560 does not work for you in the Maximum memory box try 2048. I just found on my rigs 2560 was the highest amount I could go and still get all the resolutions.
Life is a sequence of missed opportunities
It works without any problems on mine.

I recently installed W7 pro (64bit) and to my big surprise it just works brilliantly with MTW-Redux (while raw MTW crashes in no time). Thus I can now confirm that Redux certainly do and can run on W7pro, 64bit-version. Very, very well actually. For more details on this, see regular Redux-thread, post: 208....

Works for me on Windows 7 64-bit better than it did on Vista for some reason. I've had the odd CTD, but no major issues.
guys, I´ve read many posts about W7 Pro problems with crashing MTW (also post no. 208 in Redux mod), but I still can not understand how can I run MTW. ie what I must do. can somebody help me step by step?

Medieval Total War doesn't crash AT ALL for me.
Works as good on my Windows 7 64 Bit computer as it did on my old Windows XP.
I guess I'm lucky- but unlucky with Medieval 2: Total War having the crashes. :/

Getting MTW to work was a long and arduous process for me. I noticed two important factors in getting it to work on my Windows 7 desktop.
1. Make sure you have Viking Invasion installed. I tried EVERYTHING to get just regular Medieval to work by itself and it crashed no matter what. When I found my VI disc and got it installed, things worked much better.
2. Use the button fix. Using this along with VI got it working for me. Without both of these things in place it was a constant fail, now it runs just fine.
