    Default What is the concensus...

...on each faction having a mod folder?

This isn't very hard to do, and I'm wondering if it would be a good idea. It almost negates the usefulness of a 'Main' campaign, but I suppose that can just be for the player who wants an easier campaign. I sense that factions without a modfoldered campaign may be too easy....but I'm looking for some thoughts on whether we should do this, or if it is necessary.

I say go for it. We don't need to modify them as much as we have done to the Roman modfolder for an example.
For me just the possibility to add faction specific music is a good enough reason to do this.

I would say yes but later. I love the modfoldered but the faction I'm playing now is very tuff already to keep alive. I just escaped and destroyed 3 large Barbarian stacks Av.

How much effort would be required to allow this to happen?

I think it would be a good idea to have a 'hard' version of each campaign - using the modfolder to 'tune' the campaign.

Maybe these can be added at a later stage after release if the time taken to finish them is too long?

The thing is, as your playing the Mod you can play easy. med, and hard , right?
And the regular campaigns which I'm playing right now is hard.
Will this delay the release? And if so, should we wait until we get the mod out.

I don't know if there is that much difference on the campaign map. I believe the AI gets around 10k/turn on 'hard' settingh but that is nothing compared what can be done with scripting (even limited scripting - the work that is being done on maintaining populations and treasuries which the AI needs to keep afloat).

Dvk said that setting up the folders is quite fast so I can't see why we wouldn't do it.
We just don't have to make any large and time demanding tweaks for them.

Yes go for it.This way you can make the pop.growth in controll for the player, but still big for the AI prventing him to depopulate settlements. And cities with very high pop.growth(which arein my campaing in the main folder--->arverni campaign)are causing enough pain.Making strong enemies and a challanging income is good,...making big pop.growth that makes the pulbic order crap in time ruins the campaign.

SO I say if it isn't that hard, than do it.

The difference between the Main Campaign and the modfoldered one's is very minimal...except for the Romans, which is quite a different story. So setting them up is a very quick process.

The reason I asked in the first place was because it just seemed a good idea to force that player to have to do certain things...like create his own population growth....and of course, the money is a bit less. It isn't that it's made terribly more difficult to play, just that you need to DO more to survive.

Definitely makes it more interesting for the player and a lot more interactive, I'd say go for it! It means that the players who really like to micro-manage etc. will get more of a challenge and I know there are quite a few of those around.

I do like to micro-manage up to a point.
For me, it has to be quick & fairly obvious what does what.
I have been at a loss with some mods as to how to develop each settlement efficiently.
    A few options...great.
A multitude of subtlely different arcane options, not good!

I'm trying to survive now, playing that barbarian faction.
I will post later on beta thread.
    But OK DVK sounds good.

You can always add more after release (like CA's silly ETW DLC) along with patches. You just need to give the new modfolder and a launcher which also has the options included.

The "minimal" changes (except for Romans that is) can be rather significant gameplay wise. Allowing the AI the ability to compensate for its bad CAI with just more stacks & garrison script. As well as keeping the player on the balanced between military and growth.

Additional mod-foldered should be added after the release. We should focus ourselves on most important nations, such as:
    Rome (obviously)
    Carthage
    Macedon
    Seleucids
    Ptolemies
    Parthia?
And maybe one or two barbarian factions.

    That sounds reasonable to me.

indeed, Parthia is almost a must IMO. It was important in history, it's current campaign IS WAY TOO EASY, and setting up their campaign would just be add_money scripts and perhaps some population changes?
Same for the barbarians, although they have the correct difficulty right now, I guess.

I am in the process of setting up the Boii....mainly because I want to give them Bononia in Northern Italy, which can make that campaign much more interesting.

Glad you mentioned Parthia, because I do imagine that they would be too easy with the monetary support they need as an AI faction.

WHat?The boii will have a unique misuc? It would be awesome.

Also I noticed a while ago(when I still played the sarmatians) that the nomad factions have the same music as the other barbarian ones.Is this OK?Or is this changed?
