CTD On certain maps...
Ok well I reinstalled kingdoms again and thought I'd tinker with it a bit
I unpacked Americas & Brittania, I'll start with Americas:
I changed the export_descr_unit.txt to suit my preferences then deleted the two geograpahy files, the game played jut fine including the battles. However, when editing I mis judged the stats I gave some units, so I went back to the export_descr_unit.txt to tweak a little more, once I finished tweaking, I went back onto the game, the game loaded but the battles crash.
The geography files still appear to be deleted and I can't have made errors in the file or it wouldn't load at all, so why did editing it a second time make it impossible to load battles.
With britannia its a simliar issue, I edited export_descr_unit.txt, however I did it well so I didn't go back to change it again, I renamed the geography files (just as good as deleting them I gather) And, in this case it is slightly different. I tested on custom battles, when I fight on maps such as grassy flatland or scotlish highlands the battle runs through well, however some other maps such as welsh pass & Beach Landing CTD about 10 seconds after loading, thats right the maps load but always CTD about 10 seconds in even though the map and the armies I picked all seem to be in place, which is odd. So why do these maps mess up and not others? This a big pain in grand campaign to as much of the welsh scenery won't load & I enjoy playing as the welsh.
On the other hand, me modding it may have had nothing to do with it, either way certain maps won't load, and none will for amercias.
Suggestions...
I'm windows xp btw, 1.05 version I think, i haven't patched any further yet.

It has no effect inMedieval2.
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=275 is a good place to start on maps. There is even a subforum on ctds. Talk to the players that make maps all time.
