battletime limit yes or no?
Another question
Usually i played with the timer, but I have read in the manual it is recommanded to disable the time limit because of strange ai behavior...so i followed this advice.
Now i had a really crap situation.
The enemy attacked my castle and i was able to destroy all but one of their siege equipment.
Enemy infantry attacked only on one wall with the remaining ladders.
I crushed them...all of them but a really strong enemy cavalry force was still outside the castle with no chance to attack. Usually at this point i would be annoyed about the ai but i could wait the timer to run off and continue the game.
Without the timer this situation is crappy.
The enemy cannot attack and i can't win over their cavalry in open field...if i click 'exit battle' i have lost!
What to do?
Even with roleplay i can't accept this defeat, because the castle would still hold out for 4 turns and i have another force in the bordering province.
Okay the game could go on with this unfair defeat but what exactly would be the negative effect of playing with battletime-limit?

Re: battletime limit yes or no?
I have seen this behavior just once in my current DLV-game.
In other mods or vanilla this happens very often...thats why i usually use the timer
Using DLV 6.2 + your BB (latest version)
In my current campaign i had already started before installing the BB-minimod.
Here is a link to the save game:

It is 1 or 2 turns before the attack. (Venetian Army near Castle Ragusa)

Re: battletime limit yes or no?
I play with time limit just for that reason. when you kill off some of the enemies units quickly and retreat, the rest of their army becomes timid and stands there all day. in reality you would have a time limit too, but it would depend on how much daylight was left not ho much time.

I agree with RedGuard it's simply logical for this to happen but I guess a virtual hourglass is all we get out of medieval combat/economic simulator lol gotta love it though.

Agree with Tyson,
same reason why I also play with timer.
Too often it happened to me in siege battles that I also would never finish the battle due to the AI behavior outside the gates.
Thx to the timer.

Re: battletime limit yes or no?
of course this is an issue but with patience it still could be solved.
by just sending a decoy unit out of the city gate you could lure cavalry into a charge. they will come into tower shooting range and could be decimated this way.
by either sacrificing the most decimated units of yours as decoys you can try to severely weaken the enemys cavalry.
you can even try to retreat your units back behind the walls which has a 75% chance of failure but still.. worth a shot.
however i mostly play with timer because of this as well. also playing with timer on makes sieges, especially citadel sieges harder as there is the time pressure.

Re: battletime limit yes or no?
I always play without timer, the battles last a lot longer than in vanilla due to the AIs morale boost. And I like to play tactically, not let the zerg run to the town center as fast as possible (which wouldn't help anyway as the taking of the center by superior numbers was modded out quite smartly).
