    Default Faction Discussion: Kievan Rus

Alot of people have been saying to add in Kievan Rus in Broken Crescent, so I would just make a faction thread of Kiev to discuss about it

If Kiev is going to be added here's two pictures of there Seal:

This one is the City of Kiev

This one is the Coat of Arms of Ukraine

    Soldiers of Kiev

Note that these Soldiers are from Nothern Russia:

    Map of Kiev
Only destruction of the enemy can be called victory
    - Stepan Makarov, Admiral of Russian Navy, Russo-Japanese War

Perosnally I would have BC team concentrate on making more units for the existing factions. Some of them need more units desperately! But yeah.. a small extension to the North wouldn't be bad. At least it's better than moving in to the West and Europe.

p.s. that soldier with a horn around his neck is awesome!

Guys, the argument of balancing of faction X by implementing faction Y is a weak one, it doesn't solve eventual problems with unbalanced factions.

Now, regarding Rus: how many mods have Rus included? And how many mods have Qipchaks, Volga Bulgars and Kara Khitans at once included? Given that there are still few map-gaps to fill with new factions, Rus is rather a reserve faction (at least for now). I mean, there are priorities if it comes to new factions and Rus isn't one of them. It doesn't mean that there will be no Rus - it's just we haven't finalized new factions list.

And it's definitely too early to determine whether map expansion is a matter of distant future.

Yeah new faction in north would be great, and if that faction will be christian it would be better, but archer9 is right too.

Are you saying that Rus will be included? Good news indeed. Still I hope that they will have some unique units. Simply giving them units from other factions wouldn't be to my liking. Rusichi? Yes, I like their units a lot! Except for some small details...

Sorry about that, I didn't mean that to be a confirming statement, but rather a conjecturing one. I'm still speaking as a fan, not as a member of any team .

What I was referring to were the discussions for the "first draft" of BC 2.0 (long ago, when Miraj was still in town, and BC 1.5 was fresh on the market, BC 2.0 was the working title of the big new expansion - now, that's tentatively BC 3.0). Back then, Miraj provided a concept map that expanded in three directions - that's why I phrased it "distant future" - but obviously, that was a misleading thing for me to say.

    Apologies for the confusion!

Sounds cool, would be good indeed.

When is BC 3.0 coming out actually?

No, it's alright. Of corse it wouldn't hurt to have Kievan rus, but it's also OK with out them. To be honest I am quite satisfied with the current game. And it is unbelievably great that the team is still working on improving it.

The old medieval period Russian helmets and masks look undeniably awesome. IMO They would be a nice addition to the mod.

The rulers before 1200 seem to have changed quite often... I would really appreciate genealogical trees!

It because of that in Rus' there was a Listvichnoe pravo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rota_System). And because of internal wars.

I see... I guess I'll stick to the wiki source and Sviatoslav II as the ruler and Vsevolod as his heir

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sviatoslav_II_of_Kiev

    ..... ooopps wrong century

I'll take Sviatoslaw III Vsevolodowich... and I would need a genealogical tree of his family

would be roughly this (in russian)

    http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A1%D0%B2%D1%8F%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%81%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%B2_%D0%92%D1%81%D0%B5%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B8%D1%87_(%D0%BA%D0%BD%D1%8F%D0%B7%D1%8C_%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B5%D0%B2%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B9)

So what I'd really need would be an estimated birthdate, parents and brothers and Sisters... brothers and sisters in law.

Yes, now right. I have family tree of his descendants and other connected genealogical trees.
    For example:

I only need time to translate it and add dates
