Default Bugs / problems in the 1.6 version

This thread is for reporting any bugs you find in the 1.6 campaign.

To help me fix these bugs please provide the following information:

    1) What Campaign you were playing.
    2) What the problem is.
    3) What you were trying to do or the AI was doing when the problem occurred.
    4) An error log. The error log is 'system.log.txt' file in the 'Medieval II Total War\logs' folder (default location 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\logs'). A new error log is generated each time you play M2TW so I need you to post the error log generated after my mod crashes.

To attach an error log to your post press the 'Manage Attachments' button in the 'Additional Options' menu. This will bring up a pop-up menu where you can upload files.

The error log says that it can't load a cas file (I'm guessing you're trying to play the 1547 campaign) which is odd because this file was included in the 1.6 patch. I've attached the cas file to this post. To install it download the models_strat.rar, unpack it, and put it in the mods\conquest\data folder (default location 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\conquest\data').

Are you using the Vista or XP .bat file?

EDIT: checked both and realised that the Vista one was missing the part that told it to load the 970 campaign after copying the files.

To fix this problem download the attached 'conquest VISTA.rar' file, unpack it and put it in the put it in the 'Medieval II Total War' folder (default location 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War').

I'm using the XP .bat file (on windows 7). I have yet to try and see if I can play the other campaigns, but I'll try.

Hi all, I just registered to the forum an hour ago although I had beem wandering around since last week (and I still can't find some presentations thread or section).
First of all, congrats for your work, along with FKOC and Dominium Maris Baltici (may it rests in peace) it's one of the few mods set in the modern era.
I've a problem with the 1500 campaign. I type "E" and press enter but when the loading screen comes, it stays for a few seconds and then comes back to the desktop, without any error message.
    Here's the system.log:

That's odd because the files M2TW says it can't find should have been in the models_strat download. Can you check the 'mods\conquest\data\models_strat\textures' folder (default location 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\conquest\data\models_strat\textures') to see if it contains the 'ÏÉÊõʦ.psd' and 'ÏÉÊõʦ.psd.dds' files.

hi, I'm playing as the Ashikaga Shogunate in the 1547 campaign, and when I choose to fight battles myself and the Shogun battle music starts playing, my game crashes to the desktop, saying Kingdoms had an error and needs to close. I've fought other battles with them where the shogun music did not play, and it did not ctd, another bug I noticed is when I clicked Grand Campaign and then clicked on Tibet's faction symbol, it ctd'd

If you click on too many faction icons in the faction selection screen, the game crashes if the mod has above 24 factions I believe. So far, noone has been able to fix this bug

I know that and I only clicked 3, first was the Ashikaga symbol, then Ming and finally Tibet, I waited long enough to read the data on the factions before clicking on the next, the second I clicked the Tibet symbol, crash

found another bug, when you go into the custom battle and pick your difficulty, map and era, then factions and money it crashes before you can build the armies

not sure if this is a bug or not, but I started a campaign as Prussia, and within the first 4 turns the capitol goes rebel and Prussia is destroyed, thus ending the campaign, is this supposed to happen?

Did you make your peasants mad?

Seriously though, I'm not sure why that happened? What campaign were you playing?

    Hi developer!

I tested your new version and I noticed a big problem.
You use skins of russian bear hunters for russian spearmen. This bearhunters have no shields or real war weapons! So I tried to change the skins between russian spearmen and rus spear militia at battle_models file but I had no success. Can you please edit the files that way that russian spearmen would use rus_senior_militia skins and russian spear militia would use the skin of russian bear hunters?

Rus_senior_militia and the EE_Spear_militia use the same model, therefore the same skin.

And also, what do you mean by "bearhunters?"

According to your error log this file was missing so the mod wouldn't load. I'm not sure why you're getting this error message if you have this file but I can create a modified version of the 'descr_model_strat.txt' so you stop getting this error.

Tibet doesn't have a family tree because their rulers are not hereditary, Prussia doesn't have a family tree because I couldn't find someone related to Albert of Brandenburg-Ansbach to be the heir, and Japan doesn't have a family tree because I didn't realise that the Shogun was a hereditary ruler (I'll need to fix this).

To give a faction a family tree you need to change the 'has_family_tree' line in the 'descr_sm_factions.txt' from 'teutonic' to 'yes' (edit the version in the 'data/empires' folder or when you load the campaign you'll overwrite this file). You also need to edit the descr_strat to add a family tree. I think I added family trees for all the non-hereditary factions but I'm not 100% sure.

I have several folders called 1200 so I'm not sure which one you're referring to. These files are only used in the 1200 campaign so they shouldn't affect any of the other campaigns. I can upload the 1200 files if you want.

This error is odd, it's like you don't have any of the map files in the 'mods\conquest\data\world\maps\base' folder. I've attached these files to this post. To install download the 'world.7z', unpack it, and put the 'world' folder in the 'mods\conquest\data' folder.

You mentioned that you were having problems copying the files, does it say it can't copy any files.

It's possible that a sound error could be causing this problem but I would need an error log to be sure that it's not due to a missing texture or mesh.

I'm unsure why clicking on Tibet would cause the mod to crash. There may be an error with the Tibet faction. I'll check it out as soon as I can.

Did your faction leader die? Some people have reported that upon the death of the Prussian faction leader they auto lose even though the heir is still alive. Are you using the 1.3 or 1.5 version of Kingdoms?

He's referring to the Russian Spearmen (their mesh / texture is called rus_bear_spearmen). Unfortunately the skins of the Rus militia and the Russian Spearmen are too different, so I can't switch them. Though the Russian Spearman should appear earlier in the tech tree as it doesn't wear much armour.

Thanks unanime. But when i play as Tibet, Prussia and Japan when my first king dies, i lose automatcially. I thought this error was because of them not having a family tree so i thought it can be fixed by adding a family tree. I am not sure how the game mechanic works. If i were to keep the current settings without them having their family tree and still i dont lose when my first king dies. How would i fix it?
