    Default Mercenary pool and regions

    Hello,

    is there a possibility to change the availability of mercenaries and their unit types per region? I would like to add some units which are currently unavailable to the faction I am playing (TO) in certain regions. Is that easy to accomplish and safe game compatible?

    Not sure about savegame compatibility but the file you need to edit is descr_mercenaries.txt in each campaign folder. If you want to add units that currently aren't merc units, you'll also have to add merc ownership to them in the EDU and also give them a merc texture entry in the modeldb.

    Hiya CC,

    so if I play late era, I must nonetheless change the descr_mercenaries.txt in all campaign folders, or does the later era one suffice?

    Seems quite complicated to me!

    Maybe I better accept that the TO cannot recruit Almughavars in Portugal!

    Or I am valiant and try to add them to the files!

    Each campaign as it's own descr_mercenaries.txt so to edit the merc pools for the late era campaign, you only need to update the descr_mercenaries.txt in the late era campaign folder
