ambush?

ok so im playing as gondor and im trying to set an ambus so i go into the forst but not all the way out of movement points and he doest set up for an ambush but when i take the general away they go into an ambush why is this!!!!!! and im using faramir the king of ambushes baisically wont set for an ambush no matter how deep into the woods i put him

I've had trouble with ambushes too. My units will get into an ambush possition (crouched down, stating they're ready to ambush), but when I end the turn and an enemy walks by they walk right up to the unit and attack it as they would any other unit just sitting on the field.

Sometimes an enemy can see through your ambush and negate it but there should be a notification when that happens iirc.

Maybe it's just the animation for it that's missing or broken on the Faramir model. Just because you don't see him crouch doesn't necessarily mean you won't be able to ambush. (Although it could.)

in original M2TW, I can easily ambush every armies that try to pass through forest or road with woods next to road

in TATW, it never happen... what am I doing wrong??? *sigh*

No it works when hes got other units, ive never tried with siege weapons though.

its not just faramir and no when its just him he doesnt go into an ambush gow beter clarity im trying to lay ambushes in ithillian forests in the woods near minas morgul (ithil) and i dont use artillary (i find it pointless at the monent because my archers are doing good and i have all the advanced units) but it just wont work when tere is a general in the army also how come in a battle generals bodygaurd cant hide? any way it does happen with ambushes i managed to do one against the with king but that was before i got 1.4 and it was a tiny army so i got raped idk whats wrong it just wont let me use ambushes with generals and i have the trait acomplished ambusher too!

I also have problems with this. I've only been able to set up ambushes with Elrond while playing as the High Elves, but not any of my other generals. Perhaps it's because Elrond has a spearman bodyguard unit and the other generals are mounted?

And that means that it cant hide in battle.

I believe that this is related to a zone of control issue that was brought up a long time ago, it may be a recurring bug. I'll search for the old thread. Out of curiosity can anyone actually pull off ambushes or is it just the OP with the problem?

I've definitely pulled off some ambushes since 1.4, yeah.

Yeah well I found that thread and it was basically the same situation, some people couldn't do ambushes and some people could. If anyone is interested in reading it just search "Zone of control" in the forum search bar. weird stuff.

im able to pull some ambushes every millenium but when i want a general to learn how to ambush no matter were i put them it wont go into ambush, it could just be the ihillian riegion tho because thats where i set them up to catch thearmies coming from minas ihil off gaurd

yea im sure im not setting up in one patch of forest but in the large foersts that have alot of trees around them
