Gamespy bugged?

My friend has been tring to play repeatedly and sometimes when he goes to log to the online it says things like "Failed to Log On". or "Connection Lost" or it will time out.
Other times he gets lucky and it works, only to get in and have it disconnect him. If he gets the off chance that he actually makes it into the game he is hosting or joining, the server will either remove him from the chat lobby (maknig him disappear to me and other players but leaving him in the game.) or actually work (1/20 chance of this happening)
When he disappears from lobby and we try launching we get to the part where players load. Everyone loads but it hangs there as iff someone is stuck at 99.9% loaded.

This is entirely too frustrating and I would appreciate any help on the matter.

The problems you are having with Gamespy are nothing new. Do a search of this forum to find out how far back it goes, as when the game was released. We cannot help you here.

So is there entirely nothing he can do for his problem?

The only trouble he is having is named "Gamespy". The game has no control over its servers and how it says who plays. Contact their support.
