Installation Issues

I'm running Vista 32bit, I am an administrator, my RTW folder is clean, I can run RTW fine, and I am patched to 1.5.

After I'm finished downloading from your ridiculously crappy download portals, it refuses to open. I click on it, and it doesn't load up. Feeling frustrated, I extracted the files myself(data and preferences) and replaced them, then booted up the game. It shows the loading screen for about a milisecond, then it crashes.

Is there some auto install thing that's not working for me or something? Because I can't actually "open" the download, I have to extract it's contents.

this sounds very simular to the first time i installed. When i ran the installer nothing seemed to happen. However (and i've no idea why) there always seems to be a gap of about 5 min when i run the installer and it actually appearing - because i have UAC on i get the 'confirm action' thing, but it still doesn't appear on the taskbar at the bottom.

I then have to close or minumulise the windows i have open (manually using the _ button rather than the little straight to desktop button in the bottum corner) and you'll see that the installer is open. as soon as you click on it, it will then appear on the bottom bar

Can you explain this better? I click on the download, about 30 seconds later an administer message pops up telling me I need to allow a program to access the internet or something, then it loads for about 6 seconds, then stops, and I don't see it ever again.

Try redownloading the file from the same link or a different one. My file says SPQR_7.0.exe

I've downloaded it 4 times from different places, mainly from Filefront, as it's the only one that doesn't lock your download at 15 kp/s(effectively an 8 hour download for 290 MB) They were all called SPQR_70.exe. I click on it, it asks for permission to access my computer, then it disappears, with the only proof of it's existence being that it shows up as a process in the Task Manager.

yeah thats what i mean, after it does that i always have to wait for ages before it does reappear, and even then its not on the bar at the bottom

I suppose that 2 days waiting is quite long enough.

Can someone simply point me in the direction of how to manually install, because it seems that the installer has failed me.
