Default Main Campaign- Is abusing merchants in america considered cheating?

Recently got back into m2tw and came looking for mods, played various factions on various ones now and settled on DLV, scripts add a nice challenge (often a not so nice challenge as well)

Anyways, just wondering after reading through a write up thread of different factions, everyones playing on vh/vh as I am, but first playthrough past 200 turns now as the good old Irish, and once I got access to a port and could travel to the americas, everything seemed to get a bit easy, although il admit before that it was touch and go with rebels and a war over Caernarvon with the english was totally draining me

Just wondered if you guys consider it cheating to obviously abuse the 50-100k profits per turn of the americas?

Nope - not if you hazard the crossing Vs. pirates and then reach the Americas and not find merchants already there! Go fir it - it'll help you assault the Welsh stronghold. You need every penny you can get to win in DLV - there's not always enough money and you have to make concessions.

@Golly: If you don't like it, i have fixed this in my mini-mod (TOTAL FIGHT), i advertise because maybe this is what you seek
Merchant trading income have been nerfed but overhall economy is ok, more "balanced" between farming, taxes etc.
Powhattan instead of giving you 30K and a merchant in america can easily give 6K, nothing of this exist anymore

100 k seem alot, I usually stick to europe my friend.

BTW, Since TM is not the guy who welcome new people, I will say "welcome to the dark side".

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

    thanks for the welcome

yeah I seem to be making like 120k a turn now, able to fight wars with diplomats, bit silly ^_^

Powhatan is on 37k p/ turn

while im posting and asking a question, can anyone link me to knowledge on basic editing within the game, just wanting to make some certain units open to more factions (NAFFATUN!!) and maybe give a couple of the non catholic factions a heavy unit for later periods, noticed in stainless steel theyd given the moors Christian Guard(?) I think it was, and it helped them out alot- couple of personal balance issues

I think if you are playing VH/VH and with all scripts enabled then I would avoid that exploiting that trade opportunity. DLV's enjoyability is not enhanced by having too much money.

I didn't realise it was possible, I might try to fix that for BB...

If you have trade with Iberian occupants, and the multitude of +increased trade things in each city, you can bring in 10-35k per settlement, think about 80% of it is trade- yeah I'm just going to avoid heading over there in future games, although it was alot of fun slaying 1600+ unit Aztec armies with endless Irish javelin/horse missile overlapping kiting formations lol- felt like an MMO extend
