    Default Odd SS Performance Issues

Hey, i was unsure if this would qualify as a bug report, so i just posted it here.

My Problem is that Stainless Steel is oddly slow, no matter what settings i put it on. Even on the lowest settings i have problems with lag. I don't think it's a problem with my computer, because for other mods the game rarely lags and i can enjoy them on high graphics. It's only Stainless Steel that has these issues. Is anyone else being affected by this, and does anyone know of solutions?

hmm, i dont know. i assume you mean that m2tw works fine without stainless steel. the only thing i can think of is that ss has a lot of very detailed textures in it, but that shouldent be too much of a problem when you scale down the settings. i would check if any background programs are running. i hope this helps, but you will probably need the help of some1 who knows more

Maybe you should tell us about your hardware. As Nightbringer (indirectly) suggested low RAM on your graphic card could cause this problem. Have you activated shadows on the map? This is what brings my system (E6600, GF8800GTX, 4GB DDR2) to its knees.

Have you tried to reinstall SS (+M2TW)?

That's odd. I got a 5000+ AMD, with 9800gtx+, 4gb. Your GPU is significantly better, the 8800GTX had no rival prior to the new generation of cards ie gtx260 and upwards . Yet I can play the game on max settings with activated shadows with out a hiccup whatso ever.

I'm not 100% sure if the shadows caused those FPS drops. I reinstalled SS because of the low FPS and this time I unticked the option at installation and the problem was gone.

Really? I'm running SS with all the bells and whistles with a 2.0Ghz Dual Core, 4Gb DDR2 and a Geforce 9600GT (M) on a laptop....and it's fine, aside from the fact it sometimes scorches all the skin off my balls.

According to WOT that site is pretty dodgy, has quite a few viruses and spyware, I wouldn't go there if I were you. And they stole stuff off Malwarebytes.

You could always download this free software called "game booster" which closes unnecessary background programs that take away from memory usage. Using it I've noticed higher frame rates and virtually no lag even in extremely large battles. This might not the right answer to your problem but its worth a try.

SS is stuffed full of hi-res textures now, it can get slow.
