Twilight of sony.Why?

Since few time ago I note the rise of two companies,LG and Samsung.And the fall of Sony.

The same company that dominated the market in the last 20 years is broken.Technologically and commercially they are a shadow of what they has been. What s happened? Even theirs victories are losses.

They try to impose their technology,Beta vs VHS ,Blue Ray vs HDDVD , led vs oled and sometimes they win, but always lose money,they try to expand their business in many areas ,music ,cinema,Mobil phones,and they fail in everything. Why?

The hatred of Americans because they are Japanese?

Bad products?

Expensive products?

Because they as part of the RIIA and are sending kids to prison?Nobody buy from a company who want sue their kids.

Because PS3 after two years in a market still without profit.

Because the use of spy software few years ago in theirs music CDs.

People don't like big companies?

Because the constants war against other companies and the subsequent losses in money? Blue ray is a paradigmatic case? How many people still using a disk support of data now days?Why they don't see that the cable TV ,the huge broadband internet, the others digital supports will kill the cd like ones?

My grandfather has never quite forgiven the Japanese, as he was a marine who landed on Iwo Jima.

Other than guys like him, most don't care in the least, and I'd guess almost half are unaware that we even fought the Japanese.

There is actually a lot of respect for Japan in the US these days and while this concept will be completely foreign to our European posters, when there was some animosity between Japan and the US in the early 80's it was much about pride over how hard they worked compared to the US, not WWII or something like that.

I think many Americans dont like to see their enterprises in Asian hands.Sony enter in to many US enterprises ,they have to much visibility outside their main business ,they should sell hardware , nothing more than that.
PS: how many people was sued by riia outside US ,in
Japan , France or Germany? This organization enterprises are from those countries,but they use American laws to make easy money.

As somebody who went to technical school in Japan I can tell you that very few hold any animosity towards Americans for the outcome of WWII.
On the contrary, I talked to several old WWII zero pilots who had nothing but the highest praise for American and allied pilots and allied troops, and actually blamed their government for the results that ended the war.
The people in Japan were some of the nicest people you could ever meet and generous to a fault, as well as polite.

The reason I believe Sony is going down marketwise is the price of the merchandise they are producing.
As a PS3 owner, I can tell you that the quality hasn't declined.

back to the topic, can OP explain to me why the Big Three automakers in the US fell so hard on their asses? Is it because Americans apparently discriminate against Americans too?

No the porn industry went with HD tv saw a docu about it during the "hd war" Sony wanted a familly friendly image and said: no porn on blu ray.

That docu also tried to play the importance of the porn industry and used VHS/BETAMAX/Video2000 as an example, but they seem to forget that these days there is internet, you can get your porn any day, any time anywhere and cheaper, so I don't think the porn industry when it comes to dvd is still significant.

Sony aren't failing by any stretch. They've had a bad decade but that doesn't mean they've failed it just means they've had a bad decade. Laptops and TV's still perform strong, PS3 sales are rising rapidly and they are the Pioneers of 3DTV.

they are falling behind, its still a far cry away from failing in general, ie having to shut down or have someone buy them out.
theyre problem is they arent being innovative enough compared to other companies

This one is least likely. WWII is in the distant past, and most Americans were not born when it occurred.

As evidence, I would point to the car industry, where the majority of cars now sold in America are Japanese.

Last time I checked, Sony Bravias were the most sought-after and expensive television sets. The PS3 is a phenomenal machine and it will, in the long run, pay off.

American "hatred" towards Japanese. But that is , we love Japanese companies, if that were true GM would be dominant and Toyota would be losing the battle, which it most certainly is not since one is now government owned and the other is still doing as good as ever.

Honestly, Sony just is very very big and fails in some sectors and so it appears to spill over into the other markets. They aren't going to go bankrupt anytime soon, but they sure haven't had a good decade, then again neither has anyone else really (average value of a stock went down .5%, mostly due to .com bust).

Once upon a time Dave had a real nice Sony DVD player, which didnt care about scratches, had nice menu's, design etc, but only played DVD's from the store, not the ones Dave copied from the web...Dave bought some no name brand for 39,99 and it works just as well.

Dave found out Sony takes anti-piracy a bit to serious.
