Also, what is the function of flag_132?
It is the 132 X 64 tga, the one you see in cities that have not an army in it.
1 bit alpha works for me to get irregularly shaped flags. I use interpolated for the normal maps.

Did someone find any way to use transparancy on Naval Flags? In advance thank you as we are trying to make more realistic naval flags. Sadly it appears we can't do like for the state flags.
Hello gentlemen,
First off excellent tutorial husserlTW, it's been immeasurably helpful.
However i'm having some trouble in the final steps of this process. I've followed this tutorial on how to make flags and add them to the game, and i'm fairly certain I've done the making of the flags and .tai scripts properly, however i can't seem to get them in game correctly. I've tried putting them in the models.pack, and that failed because i couldn't figure out how to make a new directory. Then i tried making them their own mod, which seemed to work fairly well. All the flags showed up in game then, except the ones on the campaign map (over cities and armies and such), and that really defeats the purpose. I honestly don't know what else to try. And i'm also kinda a noob at this such anyhow.
If someone with more skillage in this area than i would be willing to put the files together in a .pack file that i could stick in my data folder i'd be forever grateful. Or be willing to try and figure our what i'm doing wrong in making my own .pack file.
I've included all the pertinent files in a 7zip folder, including my non-working .pack file.
Try the attached pack. Just place it in data and do not edit your user script.
You've done a good job there. Only the naval flag is not correct since you cover the whole space with the main flag. It should be like this:
The empty grey space in the left must be filled with 3 vertical flags which are the long triangle flags used by the ships (on their masts). Check an existing one.
Thank you so so very much! It works beautifully.
Ah, that was confusing me a little bit. I shall have to rectify that. Thanks for the heads up.You've done a good job there. Only the naval flag is not correct since you cover the whole space with the main flag. It should be like this:

Great tutorial I was working on some flags for the Greek mod, but I am having trouble getting the flag to display properly

The revamped ensign and pennants work fine though

Upload your flags7.dds.
Great guide dude exactly what i was looking for
but could you make the part about adding the files to the game a little more clear like adding screenshots or something?
+ when delete the old flags and right click add file it doesn't even put them in ui/flags/textures it puts them in an entirely new section not even in ui
Why is this?

This is what I've done
Unpacked Ui.pack and deleted all greek flag files, and put my own ones in their place (there going in the right place now)
Deleted both agent_id_greece_diffuse.dds and ensign_greece_diffuse.dds and put my own ones in
Unpacked models.pack and added flags4 (kept the other flag files)
added naval_id4 (kept naval_id0)
deleted the one line in flags.tai and the one line in naval_id.tai and added these lines
naval_id4.dds, 0, 2D, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000, 1.000000
flags4.dds, 4, 2D, 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000, 1.000000
saved these mod packs in a seperate folder
deleted ui.pack from the ETW data folder
deleted models.pack from the ETW data folder
put these two modded packs in (all the other data is exactly the same, the only thing i changed were the flag files)
renamed them ui.pack and modles.pack
and it doesn't do anything, there still the default greek flags??
This is extremely odd i deleted the pack files and started again, now
Flags that work
Animation flags (menu)
Flag carrier (land battle)
Ship flag (back of the ship)
portrait flags
Left and right flags
Flags that don't work
Agent flag
Ship circle flag
Campaign map flag (town and army flags)
floating unit flag (battle)
^^ still greek flags?
Don't worry done it now
Hello again, so i've now made some flags fro prussia, and i'm having the same issue as i was before. I can have made a pack which shows the custom flag in the faction selection screen, but when i get in the game the vanilla flags are still there.
It's probably a long shot posting here since there hasn't been much activity recently. but any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
