Hi guys,
I am intending to replace the Mughal Empire (absolute monarchy) Flag that the "EMPIRE TOTAL FLAGS" mod delivered with the historically accurate one:
..the thing is, it has an abnormal shape, as you can see.
However, the Maratha flag in the "EMPIRE TOTAL FLAGS" mod is historically accurate, and it is also not a standard rectangle.
So if the modders achieved to make the Maratha flag work, I'm guessing the Mughal flag can also be done in this way?
Suggestions please![]()
It will work fine. You still need to follow the right dimensions.
Nice flag.
Is it the faction's flag or a battle flag ?
You have to use alpha channel to work on transparency.

This is awesome, wangrin. It is their faction flag. Unfortunately, I am a total noob when it comes to modding a mod (Empire Total Flags).
I would like to keep the ETF mod, but just change their monarchy Mughal flag to the one above, and the hideous looking republic Mughal flag to either the vanilla Empire monarchy Mughal flag (the one with the peacock), or the monarchy ETF Mughal flag (the yellow crescent moon on green background).
Since i suck at modding, could someone please do this for me, or will it invonve substantial amounts of work and also need ETF modders' permission?
In Napoleon i'm able to use larger dimensions? I think this can be applied to empire, either. It will work fine. You still need to follow the right dimensions.
None! Check Primergy's thread about it: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=471916
The project is underway.Originally Posted by Sir Arun

Good luck with your mod!
Some things more about naval flags: every texture contains up to 4 flags as you can see in the the next 2 images for ensign_united_states_diffuse.
In the right is the big one I mention in tutorial and it is used by all ships of the faction. In the left there are 3 vertical flags used on the must(s) of some models. The 2 first are V shape (only the area in the V is actually the flag) and the third is a rectangular. In tutorial there are instructions how to make them. If you search in models.pack of Empire or in rigidmodels.pack of Napoleon, perhaps you find some similar vertical flags from another faction that uses the same colors in its main flag, so you can make them even easier.
I. Rectangular shapes
6. Now it is easy to make some of the other flags by changing dimensions of large.tga. Select Image\Scale Size, resize:
a. in 200 X 100 pix. and save it as animation.tga (we shall make later the real animation flags)
b. in 132 X 66 pix. and save it as flag_132.tga.
c. in 44 X 22 pix. and save it as mini_flag.tga.
II. Hud flags
1. Open left_flag.tga and copy mini_flag.tga (we've made already) on it as a new layer.
2. Mark the upper layer, select Layer\Scale Layer and resize it to 50 X 25 pix.
Just a suggestion.
The large.tga could directly be resized to 50x25 for mini_flag.tga.
This would save the trouble of doing it again in Part II - Step 2.

The large.tga flag is used for land battles.
It is not necessary the same as faction flag and could be smaller (you have to play with alpha).
It is better to use the campaign flag to create animation.tga, flag_132.tga and mini_flag.tga.
large.tga is necessarily 512x256 pixels, but you can have "void" area using alpha channel to give any size up to 512x256 pixels.
Here are some work of mine about flags (campaign, land and naval) : W.I.P - ETW flags

that's some excellent work there, wangrin. And thank you very much for taking up the work, m_1512. Despite being ahistoric, I always found the vanilla monarchy Mughal flag with the peacock over the crescent moon to be a beautiful flag....if we could somehow preserve it, it would be great. For example, we could use it as a Naval ensign, or as the republic Mughal faction flag (instead of that ugly yellow sun/star flag, which is equally ahistoric to begin with).
I also think the yellow Crescent Moon over green background flag of the Mughal monarchy, to be found in the "Empire: Total Flags" mod, is historically correct, too, so maybe that could serve as the battle flag, or vice versa that lion flag I originally proposed could become the battle flag, and the ETF monarchy flag could stay.
I also found the Bavarian monarchy flag from the ETF mod to look great. Your proposal (and the vanilla bavarian flag) resemble the modern Greek flag too much, IMO.
Furthermore, I would like to propose the King's Banner as the French monarchy faction flag, as I think it looks beautiful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ro..._of_France.svg
Also, we could use this flag for the French overseas protectorate Louisiana: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_France
Cheers

I've been trying to create a mod to give the UP the Prinsevlag and followed the steps but when I put it into the game and go into custom battle the game CTD's.
EDIT: I've gotten everything to work except the agent markers. Any help would be much appreciated![]()
