    Default Invasions!

I am currently playing with Gondor and im at my 67th turn. I love how this game is made. Fantastic!

The invasion that the dark lord calls upon people is awesome. Unfortunetly, they called it on me ... 15 turns ago. They are CONSTANTLY comming at me with full stacks. Ive seriously killed at least 40 000 troops. But ..... they just keep comming .... and comming .... and comming! I am wondering will it ever end? can I win against the dark lord invasion thingy? Or should i pull back regroup let them take it and recapture it?

If i can win ill do my best to do so. If not, ill go to plan B.

    Any help? thanks

They have 10 turns to join the invasion. When you've defeated all armies that joined in these 10 turns than it will be over.

Yes, you can. In fact the area the AI is the absolute weakest is in sieging, so you will come out of it with about 7 units of silver/gold experience.

    you have 2 choices really:

and both of them you outlined.

however, if possible, try to defend the city. the "crusading" armies will head straight for it ignoring other, perhaps open targets. if it falls those armies will be able to freely run rampant across your lands and we really dont want that.

The invasion can seem to be eternal. As long as one itsy bitsy "crusader" army exists anywhere on the map, the invasion is still on. Aside from the invader armies from the periphery, Mordor keeps adding to the fun with a constant flow of non-invader full stacks. It can get tiresome, fighting the same battles again and again. The siege of East Osgiliath- 20th time! Worst still, with huge cities and huge armies my framerate goes to hell (down to 4 or even 2 fps). Sometimes I read a book while the thing is resolving itself, with an occasional check to see if anything horrible is happening.

I have resisted everything they have thrown at me, but as I said it gets tiresome. All my money goes to rebuilding depleted armies, it's been a while since I have been able to construct some new building in a city. The economy is eroding. If a city is ready to build a new wall but you don't, the population starts to go down.

I'm considering ditching my current Gondor campaign and play some more fun faction, like elves or dwarves. At least there you can breathe!

aaah, I assume you are playing with huge units? I suggest you turn it to small, if you have problems with huge.

Once you have small units, the only problems you will have, simulair to that one, will be with 4+ mordor armies at the same time, vs your army.

Oh, and it probally does requier you to start a new campaign as well.

Well, you don't catually have to start a new game for the effect to come true. It just makes it so that you can't retrain your stacks before the numbers go under the new max limit.

For exmaple, if the stack originally has 151 units (huge), and you change the setting to 41 (tiny), you'll be able to retrain only when the stack has 40 or less units

lol well currently i think i am at my very final attack on my capital, Minas Tirith. Of course, east osgiliath is being pounded by morder none invasion stacks. My military is strained, Dol Amorths army are holding off the armies of the south and rohan has only helms deep left. Ive raised several armies to aide in defending Minas Tirith but they have all been destroyed. I have about 300 men left ( 250 of them are gondorian Archers ) and almost a full stack of the army from the east ( dont know their names not mordor though ) and half a stack left of isenguard. Ill even post a pic if i found out how. This is pretty damn close.

I hate defending minas tirith I would much rather kill everything on a damn bridge, everything is so much faster that way... to the guy who mentioned e osgilliath and having to suffer constant sieges: that's why I never take it but instead use it to bait huge armies to confront me on the bridge. I take it quite often but leave it garrison-less for the orcs to recapure

Only problem is ensuring they do not take cair andros whilst not occupying it myself... if they take it I lose my bridge funnel which is what I love above all in the gondor campaign

I'm actually down to large units now, and have seen some slight improvement. The problem is with huge cities, the computer has to keep track of every single soldier, plus every single building, effects, etc. Field battles don't give me much problem. Even in huge city sieges, it starts fine, but slogs when they break the gates and everyone wants to crowd in there.

It might be better if there were a way to make dead soldiers disappear after a while, that way the computer wouldn't need to keep track of them wasting memory.

Have you tried to decrease the graphic level of buildings? Might help , and at least i don't care too much about the quality of the buildings. It's the soldiers i'm staring in battles anyway
