Strategic map view in NTW!

Hinkel posted this in the another thread and he said it was a strategic map view. So is it like Histwar with the 2D birds eye view. The other fact is the the battle AI seems to move in a good way, not just a messy blob all over like ETW.

hah nice little addition to the game, would come in handy as well.

Is this the strategic map that will show during loading? Because i heard there will be something like this during the loading screen.

No, nothing is making its way from NTW to ETW. There will be no more major updates to ETW unless it's part of a true expansion.

What is this? Will this be what you see when you zoom out far enough? I hope so... because this looks great

sooo sexy that's pretty damn awesome but this doesn't prove anything about the AI since they obviously would arrange the troops by hand for released pics.

That's what I was thinking. I don't know if any of you played the Close Combat series, but they had this topdown maxzoom to make deploying roughly at the start easier. I like it.

Wow I am loving the terrain detail on that strategic map, will give a nice idea of where to place artillery and where/how to keep infantry covered from enemy artillery.

ive got to say those 2D screenshots have got me more optimistic and excited about Napoleon than any of the 3D look-at-the-pretty-graphics screenshots that have been out before.

Why 2D? Its all 3D on the two screenshots.

i meant in the top down view rather than a full 3D image like in the screenshots where there is a battle going on.

I would play the all battle on that top down view! alla Close Combat.
But where this view and gx style would shine would be in the Grand campaign map (zoom out) you would just zoom in for the battles when and where armys collide instedd of the "toy-colorful-plastic-abstract scale/ terrain/ movement-thing" we got.

If the battles can be played this way, theres finally something to be waiting for in NTW

NTW is starting appear to be a great game. Just haven't heard any details about CAI and BAI, only that CA are using the chessboard AI for BAI. Anyway, back to topic.

It looks really nice. Does it mean that the strategic map will have other new features not revealed yet?

Also, why would CA want to put this feature in ETW, they never promised it and if they put everything new in NTW on ETW then they would be exactly the same game and people wouldn't buy NTW.

Yeeeeeeeeeeessss!!! I love you CA! This is, what I allready wanted for Empire. Finally we'll be able to see the battlefields before the battle (hopefully).

looks damn nice to me. if this is fully zoomed out it would be great.

It would also be nice if you could show this on your second monitor, would really give you an edge

Looks very nice but there are a few questions that could be answered by CA very easily.

1\ Is the zoomed out top down view actually a new view point during tactical battles? or just an introduction to a battle?

2\ Does this view apply to all land battles? not just historic or some scripted battle within the NTW storyline.

3\ Can Warscape now generate more interesting and varied terrain?

And a rather harsh observation all this means squat unless the AI can behave in a reasonable manner on the battlefield, though the viewpoint may be attractive if the AI is not improved all you will see is a top down view of its stupidity.
