Maybe the Indians or the Kingdom of Pergamum. The bottom left of the map has alot of room and provides too much land for the selucids and other eastern factions to exspand. There's room down there for another knigdom.
I saw, I bought, I played
Yeah indians maybe, perhaps a faction for arabia would be cool
I think Syracuse and Epirus should be a single faction as they were allied and shared common interest during the entire era.

And if possible splitting up the Greek Cities into the Achean and Aetolian leagues.
I'll say this 20,000 times until someone sees it: Kingdom of Kush for Sahara balance!

Gets my vote too. Adding factions 'rimwards' is unfun, because the aim is to conquer Rome, sitting in the middle of the map. It is extremely hard already hacking your way through Pontus, the Ptolemeans and the Macedonians as the Seleucids to win the game.Originally Posted by Chuffy
Split up the 'Greek Cities' faction. It's historical, it makes for winnable thogh not too easy factions, and the diversification of units should be nice.
Separating the Galatians would help the Gauls, who are attacked by simply too many factions as of now just because they have some provinces in the way of conquest.
But I do like the idea of adding the Kushites (Meroites/Nubians/Sudanese, whatever you'd want to call them) most, as far as 'rimward' factions are concerned. Granted, they'd probably never expand even to Asia Minor. But they were there, they were historical, and they caused a lot of trouble for Roman Egypt. In fact, the high era of the Kingdom of Meroe, the last Kushite civilization, is just the period covered by the game! If the southward map extension is used, they would make a nice addition. At any rate, they should be in the game in this case, even if only as rebels, and the Blemmye (Beja) should hold a seaward province. They would make interesting units for sure (poison arrows anyone?), and the Meroites would give us the old (ahistoric) Pharaonic Egypt back - they were the true heirs of Pharaonic Egypt material culture; ironically, as they also were fundamental in bringing it into being in the first place. In game terms, they could be called Pharaonic Egyptian with a distinct dash of Black African, some elephants and a unique society/religion. The drawback is that they were not much interested in playing hardball with Northerners, much as the Mauryans quickly lost interest in expanding westwards - the strategic interests of Meroe always were in domination of Southern Sudan and Eritrea, down to Ethiopia, as they were more tied into the trade networks of the Amharic and Nubian peoples than into that of the Eastern Mediterranean. But oh, how wonderful units they would make!
I would tend to agree with you....Originally Posted by Hanno the Navigator

Good idea....but not for RTR. Adding the Kushites would be good for a later era mod, like one centered on the first century BC. I would love to see them in like TFT though....But I do like the idea of adding the Kushites (Meroites/Nubians/Sudanese, whatever you'd want to call them) most, as far as 'rimward' factions are concerned. Syracuse was such an interesting place... a very unique city state that invented siege warfare and then was destroyed in one of the most famous sieges in history.... They had very unique units and a very unique history.....
I would love to see the city get proper treatment... even as a faction, which it could have been, as for me Syracuse was much more influential than Pergamom, especially in 280 bc

My Vote: other gallic tribe
I'd like to see 2 greek factions like the two leagues, and I'd like another Gallic/Celtic faction. In order to make the Germans more diverse I would like some regional units to show the tribes.

That would be awesome, same could be done for the British Isles, but it would be to much, but one Brition tribe such as the Oceni/Iceni would be nice!Originally Posted by Orretje
I think elaborating Greek factions would bring a lot to game play... Aeotlian, Achean, Spartan and Epirus, and Syracuse and Pergamon.
This could be done as follows. Make 'Greek Cities' into Achean League, Make Sparta and the Aetolian League another faction. Athens a rebel city... then Group Epirus and Syracuse, historically allied with each other and Pergamon as an ally of the Acheans.

Furthermore I think Syracuse would add a lot to gameplay and prevent the ahistoric Carthaganian takeover of Sicily... and with a powerfull starting navy, it would prevent early naval supremacy in the area.

Syracuse and Epirus were pretty important in that time, wo I went for them ('twould help to separate the extremely arbitrary 'Greek Cities, too)
