And sieged 2 of my cities, HRE also sieged my capital. I'm not scared of the HRE but the pope scares me. I got to go back to a old save now.

Why go back to an old save? Try and see how it plays out first.

Grab an army, go conquer Rome and then hand it back to the pope as a present in exchange for a ceasefire.

Retreat Florence and Ancona. Defend Venice at all costs and get a ceasefire/alliance with any eastern neighboors. Then amass an army and take on either the pope or the hre.

Ceasefire....at turn 25???? Screw that !!!!!! That Old man in Rome wants some ...So be it!!!!! Give him the shaft!!!

1. take Innsbruck and Bologna.
2. Take Rome and your other stuff back.
3. Stick that old war monger in Innsbruck. Let him guard your northern Frontier. the exact same thing happened to me, so I know you can do it...

4 $$$$$$$ heals alls wounds. That old man loves it so give it to him. Once he settles in Innsbruck you'll en up being his chief source of money so he'll start treating you with some respect.
5. Keep Rome, it's too valuable to give back. Visitors get plus 2 piety after a few turns via pilgrimage to Rome clause.

Let us know how it goes....Say hi to that old grouch for me...

P.S. don't forget to turn Anacona & Bari into cities...Cha chi $$$$

Fight the pope? I'll try it,

him I lost favor with him because I was bullying the byzatines in the east... My plan is to retreat Florence and Ancona and build a stack in the balkans take over Rome and sell it back. I'm afraid it won't work and I will get multiple crusades on me.

I suggest you launch an attack on Rome from the Balkans

Grab the Popes attention. At the same time, build a force in Venice once you've defeated the attack force from HRE.

You cannot defeat the pope it will endlessly re-appear again, and as a result, factions that are linked to the pope will start to hate you more and more.
The best advices so far were from Mega Tortas IMHO (completly agree with him)
