    Default Too many ignorant generals

    Everytime I play, most, if not all, generals adquire the "Ignorant" trait. Andwhen I say most, I really mean it. Even in quite developed cities like Dol Amroth and Minas Tirith, governors adquire the trait. Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, Men, nobody is safe. And I think it's just tooooooooooooooo much

    Now, I know the conditions that trigger the appearance of this trait. Basically, any general who has not moved in a turn, and is in a city without a tier 2 culture building (or higher) and without a level 2 (or maybe 3? ) town hall building, has the chance of getting the trait.

    The problem is, I've had many generals who were skilled bureocrats, good merchants or administrators, etc, that still got the trait "ignorant"... now, that makes no sense, right?

    So, my proposal is that, maybe, the conditions that trigger the "ignorant" trait could be revised...

    You just wasted 4 seconds of your life reading this sentence. You'll read it again because it was so funny and waste another 4. And since you read that sentence, some more disappeared, count this sentence and it's 'nother couple. Good job time waster!

    hope they remove that trait in the next patch, or make it harder to get it. really annoying when you have to move all your generals every turn just so they wont get that stupid trait xD once when playing as the silvans, both legolas and thranduil got the "shamefully ignorant" trait

    I second this problem, and I suggest removing it entirely. I can't remėmber it being quite so common in vanilla M2TW.

    I fourth this problem, and also to the "ignorant" trait that annoys me, I add "shameful", "drunkard", "gambler"..........75% of my generals, and all of my Stewards from Minas Tirith have the "gambler" trait.........they are just bunch of incompetent idiots. I have only 2 useful generals!! Enough of this! I don't want drunk, incompetent, gay, wife-cheating, gambling, cowardly Gondor generals, I want some competent Numenoreans!

    I got this problem too, but not that often. I'd say every 7th general has it. But that does not really matter for me because the only thing that is important for them are their bodyguard. But when my great generals get it I just remove it via "remove_trait".

    I think using remove_trait is a good idea.

    Maybe we could merge our topics and ask for a submod:
    Recruited generals as Governors, not ignorant nor too flawed, but unable to move from its settlement.

    Ignorance is not only a problem in itself, but it blocks your general from gaining several skills:
    Rhetoric skill
    Strategic skill
    Tactical skill
    Mathematical skill
    Logistical skill

    These can be gained after battles and in other conditions, but not if he's ignorant.

    The problematic ignorance triggers are these:

    ;------------------------------------------
    ;Trigger sitting_around_academic_free_settlement
    ; WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    ;
    ; Condition IsGeneral
    ; and EndedInSettlement
    ; and RemainingMPPercentage = 100
    ; and not SettlementBuildingExists >= library
    ; and not SettlementBuildingExists >= city_hall
    ;
    ; Affects Ignorance 1 Chance 3
    ;------------------------------------------
    Trigger harsh_lifestyle2
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    Condition not EndedInSettlement
    and InEnemyLands
    Affects Austere 1 Chance 2
    ; Affects Ignorance 1 Chance 5
    Affects Pragmatic 1 Chance 2
    Affects Stoic 1 Chance 1
    ;------------------------------------------
    ;Trigger selfperpetuating22
    ; WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    ;
    ; Condition Trait Ignorance >= 1
    ;
    ; Affects Ignorance 1 Chance 4
    As you can see, I have already edited out some lines

    This trait is especially stupid, because a person can learn, but he cannot become more ignorant! You don't become ignorant just for living in a town with no schools, or by operating in enemy territory. Or, if you are a little ignorant, you can't progress into being more ignorant still!

    The chance of getting ignorant for being in a town without academic buildings is 3%. There's a 79% chance of your general gaining it over 50 turns. For operating in enemy territory, 5% chance per turn, 92% chance of gaining it over 50 turns. And if he's already ignorant, no matter where he is or what he's doing, 4% chance of increasing, or 87% over 50 turns.

    Here's an edct file with these changes. There can still be ignorant characters in the game, but only from origin (when coming of age or being adopted). Ignorance cannot be acquired, or increased (unless I missed some trigger).
