I noticed that in Third Age, you can change the name of towns, which is truly fantastic. For instance, playing as Harad and conquering Gondorian towns, you don't want such a Gondorian name, so you change to something more suitable to Harad. Very neat feature. Also, in a hotseat campaign, you can change the name of your actualy faction. So from High Elves to 'Elves of Rivendell' for instance. VERY nice.
Now, the question. I only found out about this recently, but you can give your ancillaries to other generals. Now, in Third Age, with rings and titles, it is a much more important feature. But I'm wondering, Elrond will die relatively soon, so I want to give a few of his VERY nice and important things to the heir. But this would require a lot of 'kerfuffle' and I'd rather not. Do things get passed down? When Elrond dies, will his heir for instance get 'Leader of the White Council' and the ring 'Vilya'?
