Napoleon with be a fail of biblical proportions, its just a rushed out mod we have to pay for which "hopefully" includes some of the features they said were going to be in empie

the best we can hope for is a working ai, and maby a couple of new uniforms

however i strongly doubt ca's abilities as even after five patches the bai cant even march a unit in a straight line, form up and starting gunning, and i personly am begging ca that every single unit in my army is not lead by a blackbeard

ca may not be able to create a "playable" game but they are masters at making us pay for it. napoleon will be released half finished like empire and realesd through steam (no refunds) we then of course have to buy the rest of the game through dlcs and expansions that add a new level of depth and statergy

the best thing ca could possibly do to save napoleon is realese mod tools and remove the blundering, imbaresing , repetitive and just plain pathetic seige battles

like you all here at the tw center i wait with great anticipation fo "Napoleon Totally Dumbed Down"

    This is absolutely breathtaking.
Nine months since release and people keep whining like on the very first day.

I'm not a huge fan of E:TW myself, but this is saddening.

CA\SEGA hoped we would just forget like brainless children.

    We don`t.

Hopefully, they`ll learn from the experience.

It won't hurt keeping an open mind, lets face it half the un-finished work is done techincally speaking on Empire total war.

But yes if CA do fail to produce a worthy game, i wont be ever consider buying it, neither any further games.

I for sure will not purchase the game this time before having read extensive gamer reviews here on this forum. If its no good than I´m that much richer and if by some mircale its all we hope for and more then...voilá, Amazon here I come

I've just noticed that NTW is on sale for £17.99 at Amazon. Is this a general price drop? If so, it may reflect a drop in pre-order sales.

It certainly makes the Imperial edition unattractive at £39.99.

At that kind of price I might take a chance and buy!

    Merry Christmas to you all.

€23.99 on Play, really tempting, thats cheaper than Kingdoms was. For that I will chance it. I would spend 4-5 times that on a night out and that all ends up as piss at the end of the night !!

Given the tactics of the day and the large armies involved, having a TW game devoted to the Napoleonic Era should represent a break with the TW system every bit as significant as Empire's switch to gunpowder and frigates.

Or not. Unfortunately, CA seems locked into a stale formula that is especially inappropriate for Napoleon, judging from the descriptions and screenshots.

It's a shame there don't appear to be any real breakthroughs or substantive innovations. To my eyes, NTW appears to be a re-hash of Empire on a smaller, more controlled scale.

There may be all sorts of reasons for this lack of imagination, but the explanation cannot be that CA is making the most exciting Napoleonic game they can make!

We'll know for sure of course when the game is released.

Good for you guys. 17.99 Euros(I think that's what the signs are) for NTW. Here in the US, it's $50.00(FIFTY DOLLARS)!

BTW, I was a fan of Empire although my computer lags when I play it. I think it's fun. But, for those who have lesser computers, CA should be nice and through in a new Graphics card/Video Card too.

Quite an overly dramatic title, and op for that matter. I mean seriously, look at your reasoning here:

BTW, I was a fan of Empire although my computer lags when I play it. I think it's fun. But, for those who have lesser computers, CA should be nice and through in a new Graphics card/Video Card too
This is just a ridiculous statement for several reasons. First of all, it's a PC game, that means, developers should feel free to push the boundaries of graphical / processor capabilities based on the current market. You can build an entire PC for 600$ that will run the game on Ultra. Or, if you are savvy (not necessarily technically savvy, there are plenty of forums to receive guidance on) you can help a brittle old PC to run the game with very little hiccups at lower settings. If you would like, I can list atleast 5 games that are incredibly popular, released in the past year, that you cannot run at all on antiquated hardware ( > 2 years old).

the best we can hope for is a working ai, and maby a couple of new uniforms
If you feel so inclined, watch these videos of interviews with people in the know, of the new features included in the game: http://www.youtube.com/user/NapoleonTotalWarFG#p/u
There he talks about the status of the current AI and where NTW's AI is and will be at the time of release. As for uniforms, there is also a uniform editor included so you can do as you wish. Also, CA has always been (relatively) supportive of modders and the like, so I'm sure realism mods, including uniform packs, flags, music and other goodies will be soon available for you to apply to your hearts desire.

I agree, ETW is not the game we all hoped it would be, but there is enough good in it, to keep me coming back and hoping for the best in the future. The last thing we need is non-constructive posts cluttering the boards with ramblings of an adolescent critic. The best thing to do would be to constructively post your grievances with the current game, explain your hopes for the future of said game, and depending on the result (not your preconceived idea of what the new content will be), play it or don't.

Its £17.99 Pounds or €23.99 Euro. So around $34.50. $50 wow that really is a rip off. I know Amazon.co.uk will ship to the US don't know if that would help.

You know, you can buy the Limited Edition for 39.95 in the US via GameStop or Amazon and it'll contain all the DLC units. It is the Imperial Edition minus the lame Napoleon poster. So you don't have to spend $50 on the Steam edition unless you really, really want to.

In reference to the OP, the only scandalous thing around here is (some) of the community's eager desire to see CA crash, burn, and writhe horribly as their "just deserts." I mean seriously, trashing the game as a "scam" before it even comes out and with the limited knowledge we have on its contents? It's one thing to wish CA would update the way the game is played, and it's another to hope CA falls over dead in financial ruin.
Let me persuade you with my powerful logic skills.

However, fans needs to bear in mind that they can chose not to be pushed around by developers. I mean until now, CA has yet to even give us any real insight to whether how will they fix the many gameplay mechanism that was broken in ETW.
