Default A few things about Poleis Hoplitoi....

So I was playing the game, and I noticed something funny. The Poleis Hoplitoi has the SAME EXACT stats as the Epiros Hoplitoi. I also noticed they look VERY Macedonian for being an AOR (Mainly Colonial) unit. It looks funny seeing Macedonian looking Hoplites serving in the forces of Carthage ! I thought of a few was to make the unit more dynamic and uniuqe ...

    1. Make it to where you recruit Epiros Hoplites anywhere in Epiros OR anywhere a Kleroi (Land Grant) is the primary government. The AOR Poleis Hoplites can be recruited in any Greek Colony or wherever a Epiroite Koinion is the government. That way the units are more uniuqe

    2. I did a little bit of research about the Colonial Hoplites of Sicily, Italy, and the rest of Europe. Considering many of them came originally from Corinth (And yes SPARTA), many of them had armor similar to their host states. And considering these hoplites were on the frontier, they were not the most technilogically advanced in Greek Society... What you should do instead, is use the the current Poleis Hoplite model for a specific Macedonian Hoplite (It is a emergant faction after all), and make a new model that looks more like this...

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The Corinthian Helm was used far more in the Greek Colonies of the west than the currently used Athenian helm...

While the shield looks like if it's Macedonian. Their are multiple different paintings that could be used on a Hoplite Shield, that wouldn't be using Macedons symbol and could easily be integrated into ANY army and not look ackward ....

and here's a sight for some more visual reference ideas...

But I think you get my point, PLEASE change the Poleis Hoplite model !!!

Please, give me some feedback ...

our historians have determined that the corinthian helmet is, in general, a couple hundred years too early for our time period

It is if you have the wars in Macedon, Greece, and the Hellenized East. But you have to remember, the Greek colonies in the Western Mediterranian were a bit behind the times. I would have to imagine that the Corinthian helm was still VERY much in use by this time in those regions...

Which one is that??? The Corinthian helm may not be the right one for the Poleis hoplite, but the Athenian helm is SERIOUSLY OVERUSED !!! Is there another one that could be used?

I don't think the Corinthian helmet I suggested is outdated.... The classical one on the Mercanary Hoplite is (And that isn't even an Italo-Corinthian helmet ), but this one isn't...

I really think this would fit the Poleis Hoplite ...

I believe most fans thought it was a stretch including the Corinthian helmet to begin with, however this justified because the Greeks in southern Italy and Sicily were seemingly still using them around the start date of the mod. So I doubt that there will be another hoplite with a Corinthian style helmet....but saying that, you never know, cause this is really a History dept call. And of couse we would need a 3d artist to make the model.

Have no fear CG, I have long been mindful that our selection of Hoplites needs to be reviewed, and the need becomes more apparent with the expansion of the FOE world to the east with FOE 2. So I think I can safely say that the issue will be looked at.
