Default Vista 64 home premium incompat with Gold Edition MW2?

I'm a long time fan of the series, have all of the games, played many of the mods.

My father liked the games too but lost his MW2 copy so I've gotten him a new one. But his PC is different now.

Trying to install it on a Vista64 Home premium set up and get the following errors:

    1) try to install from the launch icon on the disc or autorun and it simply shuts down and also kills explorer (have to restart explorer from task manager or restart PC).

    2) try to use run cmd "start e:\launch.exe" and get the following error pop-up:

    Unsupported 16-Bit Application

The program or feature\??\e:\launch.exe cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.

Soooo.....any help would be appreciated. I don't remember seeing a M2TW Gold edition at Best Buy that specifically mentioned compatibility with 64 Bit Vista (Gawd how I hate Vista).

    Thanks

I doubt you will find anything on the box about Vista or 64bit. Medieval2 and Kingdoms are XP.

The bad news is for Vista to be XP compatible, you have to own Vista Professional or Vista Ultimate.

Medieval2 will run on 32bit Vista Home Basic or Vista Home Premium. I had it run on both.

You can see if it supports virtual machine. Professional does because another player did it. You'll have to look on Microsoft's website for all the info.
