    Already preparing for the worst?

Good thinking. I say we start modding some new uniforms right now. Get the concepts up and running so we can edit the over 300 only slightly different outfits in Napoleon.

Well Spain SHOULD not be there as a proper major Faction. They were conquered by the French and all the fighting was Miltia and Guerillas backed up by English troops. So it kind of puts us in the dilemma of trying to crowbar in Spain whilst Spain posed little of a threat without Britain.

Spain was no conquered by french! was occupied exactly!

Carlos IV gave Spain to Napoleón(Abdications of Bayonne), and converted Spain in a satelite state, not like other french empire territories...

Spaniards made their own goverment, the "Supreme central and governmental Junta of Spain and the indies" in 1808 after Victory in Bailén, with representation in all regions and with their own army apart from Guerrillas... You can check it in that book

British help us, but not save us from french... Remember Napoleón was defeated thanks to the colaboration of all countries that opposed him!

Yes Madrid and other cities were occupied by the French but the Spanish juntas fought on and although usually defeated ,they were a terrible drain on French resources. In the early years their uniforms were a mixture of many styles, not just the regulation white uniform. Try painting a typical Spanish wargame army of the Bailen period.Guesswork mostly. The later Spanish blue uniform was more standard and was supplied by the British when the Spanish armies finally saw the point of cooperating with the British and Portuguese.

Here a thread on the official forum where we have been doing the good fight since this last September (So, its not like CA can say its surprised or had no data).

The Uniforms and Flags are there. I do have great hopes that Jack Lusted will not leave us down here and come up with fantasy yellow Spanish uniforms or that horrible and unhistoric 1843 Regulation Flag again.

Spanish forces could have never stand it alone. However, I think that the very same can be said of GB or Portugal alone (even of GB and Portugal or any other combination of just two countries).

The game starts in 1805. That is three years before Spain woke up one day with the enemy in its bed, the administration and Monarchs carted away in Bordeaux. You have plenty of time as a human player to not follow the follies of cowardly and treacherous Charles IV and Ferdinand VII. The armies of Spain at that time are not better or worse than the Austrians, Prussians or Russians who had gotten trounced by Napoleon before. You have the mighties Navy of those three and a regular army filled with excellent elite regiments.

    35 x Line Infantry Regiments
    12 x Light Infantry Regiments
    10 x Foriegn Regiments
2 x Royal Guard Regiments (3 Battalions Each)
1 x Royal Guard Halbardier Company
    12 x Cavalry Regiments
    8 x Dragoon Regiments

You are NOT doomed in 1805 to become a guerrilla nation. You could carry on as a French ally or switch sides sooner...your choice. Austria and Prussia got their behinds handed to them quite some times too. The only difference is that Spain never enjoyed the peace between ghastly defeats and surrenders Austria or Prussia had. She never stopped fighting. No time to refit, train new regiments propperly, requip, adapt the new doctrines, etc...Had she had, like Austria and Prussia, then no doubts Spain´s regiments would have not been worse than those of the victors of Leipzig. Leipzig...Where did those regular regiments come from if not from peace periods? Same with Wagram.

Merged the two posts, pleas use the Edit Post option next time.

Read a napoleonic first hand account of a Hessian serving under the french flag

Athenians: For ourselves, we shall not trouble you with specious pretenses - either of how we have a right to our empire because we overthrew the Mede, or are now attacking you because of wrong that you have done us- and make a long speech which would not be believed;.......... since you know as well as we do that right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

I think Ebusitanus, that we´ll have to wait a mod, because they will forget Spain again...
