    RIP Ali Habibi Mousavi.
Will this be a setback for the opposition movement or make them more determined?

Id say a major setback...for the current power structure. Last thing you want is to give your strongest opponent a rally point even worse if its a relative of that opponent.

Make them more determined for sure. Today was the angriest day of the protests. People are getting angrier and angrier and with this killing, they even get more angrier.

Is the regular military out in force on the streets or is it the revolutionary guard?

Both I think. The uniformed soldiers are regular army but the plainclothesmen are Sepah.

    RIP

I am sure this will merely embolden the protestors as Danzig pointed out.

If more stuff like this happens, it can only mean there could be violence. I don't think that the current regime fully understands what kind of threshold they sit on right now.

It's pretty rare to have a non violent revolutionary movement (although we have seen a couple in recent years), it's unfortunate but often necessary, as long as the violence stops once the objective is reached then I think allowances have to be made.

Khameini literally is becoming the new Shah. The increasingly glaring comparisons are just staggering. Through his inaction he is threatening the entire establishment, for better or worse.

I was concerned during the earlier protests (and that it was mostly ignored by the reigning administration). Now, I am truly worried.
To be governed is to be watched, inspected, directed, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, and commanded, by creatures who have neither the right, wisdom, nor virtue to do so. To be governed is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, taxed, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, admonished, reformed, corrected, and punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted, and robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, abused, disarmed, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, and betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, and dishonored. -Pierre-Joseph Proudhon

Khamenei deserves it though, the circumstances are similar in this respect: violation of democracy, corruption of Islam and a tyrant with control of the military,of course less drunkenness though

here is a picture btw of Imam Hossein slaying a sepah:

Shi'a art is so interesting in its depictions of heroism, martyrdom (often taken in the same breath) and loss, and almost always without faces, except for the evil and ugly.

I have noticed that recently more depictions of him are full-featured. And the number of YouTube tribute videos is staggering..

indeed these themes run through Shiah Islam, this sense of injustice.
