RTR VII FOE Play as Minor Factions?

Is it possible to play as any of the city-states or minor factions in FOE? I've tried modifying the descr_strat document, but that has gotten me no where.

Well, to answer your question, you must understand a major point. The "Mini-Faction" concept is more simulated than literal. Their is not a bunch of separate mini-factions such as Masallia, Mamertines, Sagentum, etc... All of these are represented by three non-playable factions, Independant Cities, Independant Dynasties, and Barbarions. So if you wanted to play a "Mini-Faction", you have two options presented to you...

1. Go very detailed and divide the mini-factions into seperate playable factions. Or at least surgically remove a couple of territories from one of these factions and create a new faction with them. It would require some modding skill

...

2. Just make of the three forementioned factions playable and just "Imagine" your playing a confederacy of independant states

Yes is possible, but will by very hard for you to expand out side of there Homeland

Hah, I've got a little bit of programming skill but no modding skill. I played around with it some more and finally unlocked the independent cities somehow. I'll try and see if I can separate them.

I made a backup right when I started. I made that mistake when I was toying around with Medieval II a few years ago.

My goal is to be able to play as the individual city states. I'd like to get it to where I can just play as the single Greek city state in Sicily or maybe the group in Iberia.

Yep, definitely the best way to go about it

Take a look at some tutorials on the TWC Wiki as well and remember the 21 (including rebels) faction limit - not that that should be a problem on FOE 1.3...

Could anyone perhaps guide me to the file where all of the faction information is located? It's not in the descr.strat and I can't find it anywhere. I;ve tried reading the tutorials on TWC but they are mostly about art and mapping.
