Reforms
Hi guys,
I'm new to EB, infact, i'm new to this whole era. All I learnt at school was that the Roman's revolutionised warfare by being the first professional, organised army. I'm trying to recreate that in my campaign.
So I have a question if that's alright,
What does each reform entail, and when does it happen? (I've been told the Marian reforms are when I recieve the stereotypical Roman soldiers, until then, I have to use mercenarys. I'm only at 245BC!! it will take me forever to get there!)
Thanks guys.

Re: Reforms
So if you are new to EB, I suggest to read the FAQ, there are also the reforms mentioned, what you need for them to occur and what you will gain.
The Roman reforms in EB try to react the development the basis of the Roman army made. From a city state militia to a system of own troops and allied forces to a professional army reaches this development.
In the first two steps you only can recruit factional troops inside Italy, only after the Marian Reforms you are able to get your Legionnaires almost everywhere.
That the Romans invented the professional army is simply not true. Even small city-states in Greece had standing armies, but if you want to get deeper wikipedia is a starting point, but I think the EB library can also give you some sources about that.
