The last part is true, though. A Norwegian pensionist couple could probably have a fairly comfortable living in India, since their pension would be the same as if they lived in Norway. Norway is an extremely costy country to live in, but pensionists can survive here. India is a cheap country (unless you want to live like a duke) so logically a Norwegian pensionist would have a good living down there.

Many Norwegians retired (many still do) to Spain before, before the Euro sort of ruined that haven.

India is a big place. Believe it or not there are places there other than Delhi and Mumbai, where life is actually very good providing you are rich.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

Yeah, but that's true for pretty much every Asian country. I'd rather go to Sri Lanka, where the infrastructure doesn't fail half of the time. But a lot of Delhi areas are very good.
