How to unlock Silvan heavy archers ?

Hello,

I'm currently playing with TATW 1.3 and silvan archers, and i can't recruit any heavy archers (or any level 3 units like heave spearmen).
I have all buildings done in the major cities, and i have looked in all AoR cities, i c'ant recruit these units. How can i manage to unlock them ?

By useing the "ask question thread" which is only a few lines below !!!

The heavy units aren't available from the beginning...you have to wait about 3-35 turns until an event unlocks the advanteged barrakcs, than you can recruit better units...
another event later unlocks the heaviest units then, that's the matter for all factions...

The higher tier barracks are only onlocked after barracks events. The first one takes place in turn 30-40, the second one around turn 60. Was there a mesage from your military counselor at the beginning, saying something like or full mobilization will take some years or something like that? If you don't remember you can start a new game to test. If it doesn't take place it is a sign that you have a known bug which sometimes causes the barrack events not to take place.

Well i'm at turn 230 ... I can't remember if I had the message saying new barracks are unlocked.
I just tested the creation of a new game, and the message is not displayed ... I think I have the bug.
Do I have to reinstall TATW ? Will my current savegame have eternally high level units locked ?

turn 230 ?!?
ok you definitly have the bug...
but i don't know if there's a way to solve it, or if you have to reinstall...

As far as I know you have not only to reinstall the mod but the whole game (kingoms). I recently had the same bug but haven't played TATW since (It spoiled my fun a bit), so I haven't yet tried out and can't tell you what becomes of your savegames...

(With the "as far as I know" part I mean I haven't tried if it works now if I reinstall, but simply reinstalling the mod doesn't do it, have tried that and it didn't work)

Hello,
I just checked the FAQ and removed the following lines :

M2TW/mods/Third_Age/data/export_descr_buildings.txt
Open this file with notepad and press CTRL+H. In the "Find what" field, type
Code:
and event_counter large_city_barracks 1
Leave the "Replace with" field blank, and click "replace all"

Repeat the process, but this time type
Code:
and event_counter huge_city_barracks 1
in the find what field.
Save the file and you're done!

Now i can build Archery level 3 in nearly all cities. I tried one in different cities, and heavy archers are now available

What units are you trying to unlock? The SE have a very limited type of units, same for HE. Thats why they both need to be re-worked in the future

You can also simply remove the event though this could unbalance the game. Look here

Do you have screen shot? I wanna see what happen to your city [show detail about tax, public, culture etc.] your building too.

I think because of culture....
But i am sure, after 230 turns, at least one settlement should have enough culture ( if you are thinking about that Altimis...)

Galadhrim will need at least 60% of culture to recruit these elite unit and only available to all cities in West/East mirkwoods and Fangorn territories.

I think I may have this as well, as Gondor. I got the message and built the new buildings at around turn 36, then around turn 58 I got the second message, but there were no new buildings to build.

If the first one works the second one works too. Just check the building tree. Look at the barracks in Dol Amroth. If you can recruit Dismounted Swan Knights then everything is fine.
