    Default LOTR Noob questions.

I don't know much about the LOTR world or what ever you call it but from what I've seen this is the map of Middle Earth.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Now my question is, What lies to the west and east, north and south (Which cannot be seen in this map)
I thought other LOTR noobs like me could use this thread to ask noob questions.

There's nothing been described in the books for sure. Another person with more free time may make a more detailed answer.

The best book to find answers, in my opinion, is The Atlas of Middle-Earth (Revised Addition) by Karen Wynn Fonstad. It has great maps based off of the descriptions in the books. The best picture I can find of the whole of the world is this:

    http://www.nazgul.de/Karte/Mittelerd...of%20arda.html

but you have to remember this is the Second Age, before the Valar removed their realm from the normal plain of existence and Numenor was still above water.

Edit: Ya, these are not of J.R.R Tolkien's creation, just based on descriptions from the books.

To the west I can be sure is Valinor, where the gods and other immortal beings live. To the north is Forodwaith, a land covered by ice where only the hardiest of men can live. To the south is Far Harad, of which little is known. And to the east are the Red Mountains and the lands where Men and Elves first awoke.

In the past, Beleriand was northern to middle-earth.

But in the final war between Morgoth(the master of sauron) and the valar(the gods) Beleriand has sunken in the sea.

    Sorry for the bad english.

Are you looking for a bigger map? If so look in the sub mods thread.

No, he's talking from a lore standpoint. And the poster above is correct. Although, if you google it, you will be able to find some expanded maps.

The only problem with these maps are they are NOT J.R.R. Tolkien's creations.

    Hope this helped

To the West there is the sea, to the North nothing afaik (I guess sea again). In the East are some Mountains where some dwarves life and also the places were Elves and Men were "born" and to the South there is desert.

I'd recommend reading the Children of Hurin, then the Silmarillion, then the Hobbit, then the trilogy.

Yes, and Scout of Imladris' map of Beleriand is accurate as well.

Despite this not being a Tolkien books/lore forum we do have a thread for that and this isn't it.

The poor bastard sank to the 2nd page for some reason: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=203040
