rome total war gold edition

i cant play the RTR game, is this because i have the RTW gold edition (RTW and BI on 1 disc) i have had issues like this before, with rise of nations. there it was the case that it was some patch that was needed but did not show up in the version. i checked in RTW, it's version 1.6.
oh and i'm running vista, sadly enough. can that be the problem?

it says it can't find the .EXE files of neither RTW or RTW BI. even when i click browse and locate the files, it won't run.

Newer versions of the game(like the gold edition) install by default in a folder called The Creative Assembly. RTRPE though installs by default in a folder called Activision as it was correct for older versions of the game. You have installed the game in the wrong place, that`s why it says it can`t find the exe.

thanks, i was a while into some other games and just saw your reaction. it worked, but the game crashes when going into 3D gameplay. grrr.

I`m guessing it`s because you have not removed the map.rwm file. Double click the campaign_map_reset batch file and it will do it for you.
