Anticipation...

So, now that 2009 is more or less out the door in terms of video games what are we all looking forward to in 2010?

As for games that either have scheduled release dates or are slated for a "sometime in 2010" date I'm anticipating the following:

- Mass Effect 2
- Bioshock 2
- Splinter Cell: Conviction (it only took 4 additional years...)
- Darksiders
- Dead Space 2
- Dante's Inferno
- ETW: Napoleon

And games that MIGHT be coming in 2010 if they get finished in time (or ever):

- Dead Rising 2
- Crysis 2
- I Am Alive
- Fable III
- Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

You hear about Splinter Cell? It's not got Spy Vs. Mercs multiplayer this year. How poor is that?

A higher number than average of good looking games are coming out soon. Heres my list:

Elemental: War of Magic - Civilization type Fantasy game from Stardock with ROTK style battles.
Age of Decadence - Fallout 1/2 style game by former Troika (Arcanum, Vampire) employees.
AvP - if its as good as the last 2
Mechwarrior - Probably my most anticipated game of this decade after that FAIL that was MOO3.
Mass Effect 2
Starcraft 2 - will probably be the most played game online next to wow
Diablo 3
Supreme Commander 2
Secret World - looks cool
Alan Wake - most people forgot about this, will it be good? Bad? Duke Nukem?
The Old Republic - will redefine episodic games and mmorpgs. Only conceivable competition to WoW.
Fallout: New Vegas
Max Payne 3
Deus Ex 3 - devs promise a game more like 1
American McGees: Alice 2
Jagged Alliance 3 - tactical game, long awaited sequel.
Alpha Protocol - spy rpg? New genre? Will it prove Obsidian to be more than a company who makes mediocre games?



Almost all of these are likely coming out next year or beginning of the year after. This is going to be the best gaming year in a decade or the most disappointing of all time.

I am calling it now, most of the games I am looking forward to being released are going to suck:
Deus Ex 3
Old Republic, which has no hope of replacing WoW at all...
Jagged Alliance 3
Napoleon (with the future player-made Mods may not suck)
Diablo 3 (Will not suck, it will be exactly everything Blizzard says it will be because they do make quality, yet highly formulaic games.)

I'm looking forward to Shogun 2. Rome can go kill itself. The entire region is done to death.

I agree. While I would love to see a Rome 2 eventually, I think it can wait.

As far as games coming out this year- isn't Victoria 2 going to come out this year? If so, then I am looking forward to that.

I have not enjoyed ETW so I won't be looking forward to NTW.

Fortunately for me, I care little about the MP for Splinter Cell....just as long as the SP is on par with all the previous games...

How could I forget AvP....slipped my mind...I am excited about that game too and can't wait for it!
