xc online help plz

greetings, just installed rtw gold edition with bi then xc

I have a few questions

1. off topic but in the xc checkboxes where you choose if you want land bridges they have a option to run xc on bi exe. what does that mean?

2. When I try to join a game online in xc all the games are non compatible because it says I have v1.4 and the other hosts have v1.5 so I look in options and it said 1.4 so I then installed patch 1.5 from gamershell and extracted the 1.5 file to my rome folder and just clicked the installshield and it finished or so I thought. Then I turned on rome using bi and I still had v1.4 so I then installed patch 1.3 using the same method and still I only had 1.4, last I tried to install the 1.6 patch but it wont let me saying something about bi that I don't have lol I've heard others having the same problem. How do I get my bi 1.4 to get to version 1.5 and play online?

Welcome, dunty12.

1. Running Extended Cultures on BI means you use the BI executable file instead of the RTW one. This adds a few features to the game including hording for certain factions.

2. First, if you are going online with Extended Cultures, you will be able to play only with other people running the same version with (mostly) the same install options.
Now for patching, if you have BI at version 1.4, you need only install patch 1.6 which will automatically patch RTW to 1.5, installing patch 1.5 may mess up installing 1.6. The best thing to do is install RTW, then BI, then if you need to patch 1.6.
Beyond that, you will have to ask in the tech forums.

Thank you for your help CV I understand now yeah I uninstalled rtw last night so i'll just reinstall when I get back from work and install 1.6 but what do you been by going beyond that point? you can go further than 1.6? also since I have BI that's cool that I will see those features I'm happy bbout that but what does hording exactly mean how will I see that in xc? also I heard aside from hording units can swim in rivers is that the only features?

That's some of the most evident ones, religion was originally a BI-only feature plus more like emerging factions.
If you wanna see some serious BI action play the seleucids.

hey, yeah I reinstalled rtw and when I put in bi to install it the install was greyed out so I guess I its there but I don't see the bi folder? So then I tryed to install the 1.6 patch and it gave me this error the same error as before '' RomeTW-BI.exe has not been detected. '' This is the same error as when I installed 1.5 first i'm stumped guys lol...

Looks like your registry may be messed up, check TWC support section to find out how to clean the relevant entries.

Sup I'm back and got 1.6 to install finally. You were right Zarax it was the registry, so I manually uninstalled it I think the problem was the RomeTW.ini file and plus my registry wasn't on point so after a few scans and a fresh install of rome and bi 1.6 finally installed but I'm bout to check the version when I start up xc right now to see if it worked for shore. thanku zarax and cv for your help this is why I came here b/c of xc and the good support

I appreciate that cv and zarax my pc runs alot smoother b/c of all the steps I took to clean the registry and other stuff lol so it all worked out, and I'm glad to be apart of the forums. I have 1.6 but now when I go online I'm not compatible with 99% percent of the games because everyone is using 1.5

also even if I get 1.5 I still have to have the same settings on right so I don't think I'm going to find a game online in xc unless I know someone with 1.6 and the same settings in xc and we go on at the same time lol. Maybe I'll have more luck with rs2 when it comes out idk. What rtw mods do people usually play online with thats easy to find games? Fourth age maybe? Thankyou

1.6 and 1.5 are the same thing except that 1.6 is for BI, and 1.5 is for RTW. So, if you need to play with people using 1.5, you need to play on RTW, not BI.

As for playing with people using the same mod, you really just need to set it up before hand most of the time, a couple mods have good online multiplayer communties (Napoleonic: TW for one), but most don't.

I downloaded and played fourth age but it's not nearly as good as xc, I can't even make my changes I want because it installs in the rtw data and everything in desc and the units file looks like the rtw vanilla files. Also I tried to unlock the other factions in fourth age but you can still only play those few and still everyone has 1.5 online...
