I have a number of mods installed and I enjoy them although not for the same reasons most of you enjoy them. I prefer the online battles because I am bored with vanilla Rome. I find that most mods have been developed for the people who play the “campaign games”.

I am finding that as far as the multi-player aspects of online battles go mods come in two categories. Really good or really bad.

As a online gamer I can’t promote a mod whit huge discrepancies in unit cost and other things like a background screen in which you can’t see the cost of units because the shading is wrong.

If your mod is also intended for online battles please ensure the following:

Banners are on.

The battle menu is on the bottom.

Unit prices are for the proper units.

Too many units to pick from can for (some) be just as bad as not enough to pick from.

Some mods have more than one exe that can be used. It’s inconsequential for a campaign game but for multi-players we all have to be on the same page. That said if you want your mod to be enjoyed by the online gamers please specify what mod to use even if it will work with all on your instruction page.

If you don’t want to entertain suggestion or bugs discovered by multi-player please state in your download page something like “this mod is intended for campaign game use only”. When we see that we move on and nobody bugs you.

They are only my suggestion of course but I have looked and downloaded almost all of them and I am seeing some great work.

Merry Christmas
