Default The Lost Army of the Orcs

The OoMM begins the game with a huge army somewhere in Gondor. The AI usually moves it up past Gondor and Rohan without attacking, but causing much terror among the peasants.

My question is, is the location of this big army intentional, or perhaps a typo in the coordinates and it was meant to be inside its borders?

It's intended, to make Gondor's game more challenging.

    I haven't even noticed it.

That makes no sense because it does not attack. I think it's one of those scripted armies which will attack some rebel cities, but was accidently misplaced on the map.

I've never seen this army. Where is it at the game start?

I have seen that army too. In my Gondorian campaign it tried to pass to Rohan over White Mountains, but when it ran into my city it just died for no apparent reason. In my next campaign my spy also spotted that army wandering on my lands. Never saw it again... Spooky!

We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

Correct, it's a glitch in all the games I only saw it in one recent game as Gondor. It appeared like on turn 3 and died the same turn without attacking anything it appeared out of the fog next to the city under the mountain pass leading to Dunharrow. After it appeared and died on every turn after I no longer saw the "Crossing swords" animation when attacking or defending and I no longer got the end turn sound effect when hitting the button. Otherwise it did not effect that game. However I loaded a High Elves save game and it was fine as was all my other saves and games created afterwards.... Just plain wierd.

According to lore Orcs were never entirely eradicated from White mountians before the War of the Ring. It is not surprising that you would find isolated armies and bands of them scattered about in that area.

I saw it once for a moment, but it disappeard the moment I spotted it (like teleported away or deleted or something like that). I then thought it was some kind of a glitch...

EDIT: I looked up the two scripted anti-rebel armies for the OotMM and the coordinates seemed correct to me in both cases. One appears near Framsburg, one near Ost-in-Edhil.

I think it's the same army as that attacking Ost-in-Edhil.
    It's using teleportation for sure
