    Default Adding/changing music

    I would like to add/remove some tracks for the factions. I have no idea how to do this, I have tried changing the desc_music_sounds.txt however this seems to have no effect. One of the main reasons is the somewhat bland northmen battle music. Can anyone help me out?

    I believe Baron Samedis tutorial is really good, and very detailed. Altought i agree that adding own music is far from simple.

    I don't believe there is easier way to explain it tought..

    I can't seem to get this working. I try to give Gondor the evil 'battle5' changing it to 'battle20' in case it causes some kind of conflict and placing it in the northmen battle section. My battle section in 'desc_sounds_music_text' looks like this:

    folder data/sounds/music/northmen/battle
    battle20.mp3

    ...and yet I still get the same northmen music. It's like changing it has no effect at all... I have refreshed the battle music many times and it's still the same 5 or 6 battle tunes. I have noticed that gondor shares the battle music folder with northmen so maybe this is causing the issue

    okay the plot thickens... I have had suspicions that the 'des_sounds_music' file has no effect whatsoever on the game... so I removed it from the data folder and ran the game. It still plays fine (with the standard third age music) on the CM and in battles so basically this file has no impact on the game itself

    There is another file called 'des_sounds_music original' that may hold the answers, it's structure is identical to the other file except all music appears to be from M2 vanilla. Basically I have no idea what the hell is going on please help

    @damnmap

    Please read my music tutorial carefully step by step. Its really not that hard and once you have done it the first time, you will see it is not that hard. If you have still have questions about modding music in TATW please ask them in the subsequent thread in the bug/technical help section.

    Your tutorial is fairly straightforward and I followed the steps fine... however the 'desc_sound_music' text is meant to be a vital file that determines all music for the mod? I deleted it and the game runs fine regardless, with the music, which is what I am struggling to understand. How can this be?

    Basically whats the point in me editting a file that doesn't seem to do anything to the game, which can be removed with no noticable effect to the music? This is a major logic error for me, that the so-called 'music text' does NOTHING to the music... there must be another file that controls it that I need to mess with

    Can someone else remove the 'des_music_text' and see if it effects their game in any way?
