I dislike steam

Hello and merry christmass. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this disscussion, but your general disscussion forum isnt very general.

Anyway, today I opened ETW for the first time (yay!) then I realized it was a part steam product (omg noooo how did I miss that????!!!!! *terror music in the background*). It got worse, I then realized when installing the game that I had to download the hole thing (omg nooooooooooooooo!!!!!! *sadface*) even though I had the disc copys.

But because Im a genious I decided to quit out of that once it had 'configured to steam', then I clicked 'reinstall' game, which allowed me to install the game from the disks. Soooo happy I didnt have to download the 15000+mb game. That would have killed me (inside).

So just wanted to say hi, tell my story. yep.

Actually not, first place the disc inside and it'll install itself(if you first enter the key it will indeed download)

Uh, you had to download the whole thing, that sucks.
I have spent the afternoon downloading updates for it, only 27% left then I can finally play!
The only problem I had with installation was trying to work out if it was a 'G' or a '6' on the product key.

Exactly my thoughts when I bought Fear2. I had checked the box, no steam. Popped in the disc back home and.. STEAM! lateri noticed in small writing `Steamworks` which I never realised was another name for Steam. Feel quite tricked.

Completed the game in one weekend and since then it has sat in the attic because once you`ve seen it, it`s done and because of Steam, I can`t sell it in a 2nd hand store, give to family, or even give it away.

What a waste of money. Games like this do not need to be on Steam, it only suits the company.

I had the same problem when I first installed Empire... Disc in and it's installing. Wait, 8 hours? Downloading? WTF? Killed the process and did exactly as you did.

Curiously I am just in the middle of reinstalling after a system format and it's taking it from the disc first time... hmmm.

I had the same thing, luckily I started installation at 10am, so all was well.

Steam is ok. I just wish they gave the owner of the game more freedom with their products, sharing the game to another computer for example IMO should be allowed, with the condition of only 1 computer able to access the game online. Also less "surprise! download me patches" and perhaps a bigger warning sign. THIS PRODUCT IS STEAM INFESTED.... or somthing along those lines.

Interesting how this isn't really related to ETW. Yet its still here. Even more amazing is that it isn't closed ^^

You can install on multiple PC's

You can play on more than one pc offline

HOWEVER if you have Steam online and boot another computer that goes online with the same Steam account the first instance gets logged out
