    Default Baltic Release: Christmas Preview

    Merry Christmas and welcome to yet another preview of the Wrath of the Norsemen. Our present to you today will be the announcement and early sneak peak at one of the new factions available to you in the Baltic Release. If you think that's it, you'd be wrong as we have thrown in a couple of extra unit previews for good cheer. So sit back, relax, and enjoy.

    Rekkar
    The Northmen are known for nothing if not violence. Whether farmer or smith, thatcher or priest, carpenter, butcher, net-weaver, ring-giver, word-spinner, or king, all must know how to fight. It is fitting therefore that even the rank and file of their armies are in many respect one of their greatest attributes.
    The tragedy of the north, the scarce food, the constant warfare, the bloody moods of the god, is a wind that must be weathered by all peoples were the branches of the world-tree do not shelter Midgard from such sorrow. Thus the warriors of the north are no stranger to peril, and the bulk of viking forces, the warriors, fight with the ferocity of those with the valkyries on their heels.
    They are men both useful in defense and attack, As they are armed with axes and throwing spears, and can fight one on one, like the warriors of old, but can also for the shield wall, presenting an obstacle as real as a stone wall.

    "Birds are calling,
    war-spears whining, and wolves howling;
    shield answers shaft, shining moonlight
    wanders over wasteland. Wicked deeds arise
    that will form hatred in this forces heart.
    But awaken now, warriors of mine;
    take up your targes, determine on courage,
    fight at the forefront, be firm in valor." - The Finnsburg Fragment

These bad ass Finns will come with their own fully unique roster, and looking around, we will be the first mod to ever include Finland as a faction... Or Finnic tribe in this case.

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Virkohiset (assault infantry)
    Free farmers and hunters who have chosen to lead more warlike lives than their brethren. Like all Tavastians, they are a mobile and effective fighting force.
    Medium infantry, armed with javelins, battle ax and shield. Can hide in long grass. Unit size: Large
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Urohot (axemen)
    Literally "brave ones", these men are fierce and brave shock troops, though vulnerable in range.

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Jousimiehet (bowmen)

    Very good Christmas present to all of us!

    if it wants to be considered as a great one, to be able to fight.

    Nice one Vik! Excellent tactical units and specially that christmas banner with the drunken....
    Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
    I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.
