Do you prefer TW games with specific detailed mini era (ie Napoleon), or the more wide open generalized era (ie Rome, M2TW, and Empire)

Mini Era!!! I would like WW1 TW (It would be like mini)!!! But I would hate American CW TW!!!!
Yea I halfway agree.
WWI total war would be awesome, but I also think a civil war compliation would be great.
A Civil War Total War that included all the greatest civil wars from history, like the American Civil War, the English Civil War, the Boxer Rebellion, and any that aren't coming to mind as I write this.
I voted generalized by the way.
I would LOVE a American war between the states. Huge map, many regions and colorfull armies.
Read a napoleonic first hand account of a Hessian serving under the french flag
Athenians: For ourselves, we shall not trouble you with specious pretenses - either of how we have a right to our empire because we overthrew the Mede, or are now attacking you because of wrong that you have done us- and make a long speech which would not be believed;.......... since you know as well as we do that right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.
Part of the Melian Dialogue in The History of the Pelopenessian War by Thucydides.
You mean like the Civil War? If so that should not be so hard to do, as the muskets of the time, looked a fired much in the same way. Would just have to change the skins, but only being able to play as two factions, North or South would be rather...Well boring I guess would be the correct word. But what am I saying, I would play it just because xD
I prefer a more side open generalized area. I'm about creating my own version of history and having a bigger world which to do so gets me happy.
The extra development time will allow us to finalize and polish Empire, making it the most accomplished and epic of the Total War series." said Kieran Brigden, Studio Communications Manager at The Creative Assembly. "There is a great deal of anticipation around Empire: Total War and we want to ensure that it is the benchmark for strategy games upon its release.![]()
I prefere the Rome/MedII style but must add that it should be limited as to not extend the period too long and limit the amount of playable nations. Otherwise, one wouldn't be able to create enough depth which is something that has and is already occuring in the last Total War games !!!
There is no doubt that there will be a WWI total war game, CA has been dropping hints in various interviews.
If it's a cool game, I don't care. I like both.

Thread renamed for clarification.
Mini eras get to be more historically accurate. I dont want any more more MP battles with puckle guns.
HISTORIAN: THE FRONTIER
The smaller games are much more entertaining for me, they allow plausible army sizes and realistic goals instead of the standard "conquer the world."
English Civil War would make a good mini total war map/game!
I would say that a mix of both would be good,i loved Rome! but i felt that it was a pitty that we couldnt have mini campaigns focused for example on the first or second punic war.
I like a good mix. Although I love playing the Grand campaign, I also loved the mini campaigns in Kingdoms like Americas, Britannia etc. It's always nice to have a mix. It makes a change, and you also get the best of both worlds.
I only voted mini era because the Napoleonic era is the only era i really would like to be in a total war game, but RTW and MTW2 were really good games, the campaign was great fun. I suppose its too early to say so yet, because none of us have played the campaign in NTW.

A time in the 16th-17th century would be nice
