    Default Right or wrong?

Just installed RTW and RS 1.6 to my computer because the upcoming release of 2.0

I have a problem: my pc doesnt run the game smoothly, even my old 2004 bought pc runned it better.

Specs: Ati Radeon hd 4600 series(3gb), Amd phenom 8550 triple core processor 2.2 ghz, 6gb RAM.

    Sounds weird huh?

    Crack are illegal, so no.
You can buy RTW gold for 3$ on steam, that's almost nothing.

Your processor. RTW only utilizes one core, rendering your other 2 useless. In other words, you have a single 2.2 Ghz processor for Rome. Overclock it to get better performance or reduce unit size.

    That really might explain it.

    never thought about that.

But my game box says minimum requirement is 1 ghz so I think that 2.2 ghz fills recommended requirement.

One thing that you can do to help a PC handle RTW better is to stop a lot of the Windows services from running in the background using msconfig (from the run dialog box).

The alternate to that is to use IOBIT's Game Booster software (it's free) - this can be used to put your PC into 'gaming mode' and it closes a lot of Windows background services that you should not need while playing games.

I've started to use it again on my latest system.

A lot depends on your system - I doubt that you will see any graphic improvements (if that is what is limiting your system) but you should not get a drain on your memory with Game Booster running - so that may help the game run a bit smoother.

The problem with any comparison is it needs to be the same action before and after using Game Booster.

I'm quite happy to use it - you will see how many Windows Services get shut down.

My problem with large unit sizes was that i got quite a bit of lag, but with this gamebooster thing it runs a lot smoother even the biggest battles now, which still have a bit of lag, but there is a marked improvement.

Are you running in 64 bit? I think RTW can only run in 32 so your system might just be shifting between the two modes as you're running it. Just a speculation, take it with a grain of salt

I had also a performance problem, I had to disable some useless graphic option (not sure which one it was, exactly). After that I got a performance boost with almost no optic downturn. I think it was some AA setting or something with anisotropic filtering. I also did an upgrade to the newest driver for my graphic card. I always play on the highest settings everywhere, including unit size. (I also have x64 system)

If you have an Nvidia card it's best to use the Nvidia control panel to override the in-game settings.

A while ago I was using nHancer in place of the Nvidia control panel as I read somewhere it was better. I am not using it at the moment as I've recently changed my PC - I do have it installed though.

Nice, this turn out to be a collection of game tools. I also have one: "ShiftWindow" gets rid of the bars if you are playing in window mode. http://www.grismar.net/shiftwindow/

    Ok ok, its offtopic.

How do you add Roma Surrectum to it? Or do you just enhance RTW settings and it will change it for RS?

Add RS to what - Nvidia Control Panel or nHancer.....

The idea is to, for instance, switch off anti-alaising in-game and set the Nvidia Control Panel to 'override' program settings.

AA is one of the thing that needs the most performance but it's well worth to have it set to at least x4 if you ask me.
